A few years ago, we published an article on essential oils asking our readers what kind of scene they wanted to set with scent. Over half of respondents said that reducing tension in a room was one of their biggest concerns. The places we live and work in can be stressful.
So the fact that today, March 15, 2024, is World Sleep Day got us thinking about how important sleep is for regulating emotions and restoring the body from the stresses of the day, and so we’re back with a new list of essential oils that promote better sleep.
Telling yourself to “close your eyes and go to sleep” may be counterproductive, so it may be better to approach it in a more subtle way, such as using essential oils like these to bring an atmosphere of peace and serenity to the room.
Cedarwood
Not only does it smell like Christmas is on the way, but cedarwood is said to support the function of the pineal gland, which secretes melatonin, a hormone that promotes good quality sleep. One of the main benefits of cedarwood essential oil is its calming and soothing effect on the mind and body. When diffused or applied topically, it can have a relaxing effect and reduce stress and tension. Many people find it particularly effective in creating a calming atmosphere during meditation and relaxation practices.
