PENN YAN — Yates County Public Health and the county’s community service agencies have partnered with CredibleMind to launch a free online platform that provides 24/7 access to more than 10,000 confidential, personalized and scientifically-backed mental health resources.
The site offers curated resources on more than 225 topics, including apps, videos, podcasts, articles, books, etc. The CredibleMind site gives county residents access to resources customized to their needs, preferences and circumstances.
“This project represents a partnership of more than 20 organizations in Yates County committed to the health and wellness of our residents,” said Dr. Doug Sinclair, the county’s public health director. “Like many rural areas, Yates County has a shortage of mental health care providers, and this resource can be helpful for residents who are ready to learn, assess their current challenges, and begin their own wellness programs.”
“This resource provides an anonymous way for people to explore a variety of health topics, participate in self-help activities and connect with behavioral health and substance use providers,” added George Loates, the county’s community services director. “Those who choose to register for an account can customize their content and track their progress with the option to receive weekly emails with suggested topics to review.”
CredibleMind focuses on early intervention and prevention when it comes to mental health issues, with over 10,000 evidence-based resources to provide users with reliable self-care options to improve their overall health without medical intervention.
If you are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, you or your family can call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline to get help. In an emergency, call 911.
