Blossom Juicy Bar is a fast-growing business in Dayton that first opened in 2018. From its first location in Kettering, Blossom has expanded quickly, opening its fourth location in February 2022 at Fairfield Mall, just minutes from Wright State University.
who are they?
Blossom Juicy Bar’s original location is at 2801 S Dixie Dr. Dayton, OH 45409. The Fairfield Mall location is in the food court near Bath & Body Works and Auntie Anne’s.
The company was founded by local couple Victor Wang and Chen Wang, both graduates of the University of Dayton.
history
“Traditional tapioca originated in Taiwan,” says Victor Wang. “Traditional tapioca is made from tapioca flour, but people have come up with different ideas and have come up with popping tapioca, black tapioca, flavored tapioca, etc.”
Wang recommended that first-time customers try the tiger tea, which contains popping tapioca pearls.
According to Wang, what sets Blossom Juicy Bar apart from other bubble tea places is its secret ingredient: flower essences.
“We don’t want to be known as just a bubble tea place,” he said. “We want to be a company that promotes balance in everything we do, and the first part of that is flower essences.”
Cheng Wang practices Sahaja Yoga, which emphasizes the importance of a balanced lifestyle, and came up with the idea of incorporating flower essences.
Flower essences are extracted from various flowers to release the beneficial properties they contain – lavender, for example, has been shown to promote relaxation and healthy sleep.
Their Mission
The Wangs said their business practices are based on promoting healthy lifestyles and they hope customers recognise the care and attention that goes into their products.
Victor Wang believes the growing popularity of bubble tea and milk tea among the college-aged generation is due to the spiritual connection between tea’s calming properties and the need to slowly enjoy the drink, which he hopes to express through Blossom.
“The ancient ritual of enjoying tea in Chinese culture is not a quick end, it takes time. The purpose of the tea ceremony is not to drink tea. The purpose of drinking tea is to have a conversation,” he said.
community
The local manager of the Blossom Juicy Bar branch at Fairfield Mall is Christina Hawes, a WSU student and public relations chair for the China Club.
“We intend to leave a lasting impact on the community,” Hawes said, “Blossom is a growing business, but we can make a difference. We’ve approached the WSU art department to ask them to display their students’ artwork in the store.”
