A woman struggling with skincare has shared her affordable skincare routine to age gracefully.
She explains that you don’t need a ton of products for your anti-ageing routine, and shares her top picks.
Reddit user Aenflex shared some proven tips in a post to stave off premature aging.
It’s not just about skin care, it’s about overall health and wellness.
First of all, she said, “Drink more water. Lots of it.”
She also highlighted the benefit of using “simple products to replenish barrier function.”
“I like plain Aquaphor or a cream with Vaseline. I also use vegetable oil, which is great for my dry, mature skin,” she said.
She admits that she uses oils primarily for moisturizing, and that a mix of baobab, borage and Kalahari melon seeds is a typical bottle in her “rotation.”
She added that you “don’t need to use a ton of skin care products” to solve texture issues.
The Redditor’s beauty regime consists of Timeless Skincare’s Hyaluronic Acid Pure Serum ($13.96), an occlusive cream or oil, and a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser.

She uses some “regular creams” as part of her beauty regimen, including Aquaphor, Crème de la Mer, Eucerin thick cream, and Vaseline.
She recommended drugstore CosRX Hydrium Watery Toner as another hydrating serum option.
Reddit users say they use Clinique’s Take the Day Off Balm ($30.75), Albolene, or plain coconut oil to cleanse and remove makeup.
“All three of these products thoroughly remove everything from your face, including makeup and heavy sunscreen,” she explained.
The Reddit user said she usually massages her face and uses a hot cloth to remove any remaining dirt.
When I wash my face in the shower, I use a foaming product like Shiseido’s now-discontinued Waso face wash or the $15.48 CeraVe Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser.
After washing your face, she said, “make sure you apply moisturizer to damp skin” and then apply an occlusive product over the moisturizer.
Apply a moisturizing product to damp skin, pat dry, spray with water again, and pat on oil, cream, or lotion.
“I like to pat it all on, massage it in, and let it dry before moving on to sunscreen and makeup,” she explained.
The Redditor then suggested incorporating “a hydrating serum with something occlusive on top” into your routine for overnight skincare.
Slugging is a beauty technique in which you apply an occlusive ointment, such as Vaseline, to your skin as the last step of your evening skincare routine.
For the final step, she uses prescription azelaic acid, glycolic acid products, and Timeless CEF serum as her “active ingredients.”
“I alternate between tretinoin, glycolic acid, and azelaic acid at night, and use CEF in the morning a few times a week,” she explained.
Don’t forget to apply sunscreen during the day, as it plays a vital role in the aging process.
When it comes to makeup, “avoid drying makeup like powders and matte foundations,” she says.
Instead, look for a dewy foundation and avoid powder altogether.
She also keeps a can of water in her bathroom to mist her skin between makeup applications.
All of these anti-aging tips play an important role in maintaining a youthful appearance.
