During the rainy season many people experience the following problems: Joint HealthAyurvedic physician Dr Manisha Mishra says these aches and pains are caused by an imbalance in the ratio of vata, or air, in the body. But don’t fret; she has two remedies that can help. Another solution, she said, is to apply castor oil to the body. part Lubricate the sore spot Joint He will get better and his walking will improve,” Dr Mishra said.
But what causes the pain and suffering of monsoon?
The weather during the monsoon is characterised by cool breezes and humidity. In Ayurveda, this period, called Visarga Kala, is when the Earth moves away from the Sun and the Moon moves away from the Sun.
The influence of air in the monsoon season increases and the environment becomes cooler. The monsoon season is associated with Vata and Kapha doshas, which are aggravated during this time. Vata dosha represents air.
“Kapha dosha, which represents the elements of water and earth, also increases, creating an imbalance between the body and space elements,” explains Shloka, classical hatha yoga teacher and lifestyle expert.
Simply put, cold, damp and changeable weather conditions increase Vata dosha, leading to instability in the body. “This imbalance causes loss of fluid in the joints, which creates friction. inflammationjoint pain, muscle pain and stiffness,” says Shloka.
The heavy, humid conditions of monsoon season aggravate kapha dosha. “Excess kapha causes fluid retention in the joints, leading to inflammation and swelling, and aggravating conditions like arthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis,” says Shloka.
The experts continued that cold, damp weather further weakens the digestive fire (agni), leading to indigestion and build-up of toxins. “The accumulation of ama – toxins and undigested metabolic waste – in the body due to indigestion contributes to inflammation and pain in various parts of the body,” Shloka said.
