Walgreens is slashing prices on more than 1,300 products across a variety of categories as part of its summer savings campaign, the company announced Wednesday.
The company also plans to introduce “a series of promotional campaigns,” including the return of myW days in mid-July.
The pharmacy chain, which operates about 9,000 retail stores across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, said in a news release that the price cuts affect national and private label products across the “health and wellness, personal care and seasonal items” categories.
“Walgreens understands that our customers are struggling financially and have difficulty purchasing everyday essentials,” said Tracey D. Brown, executive vice president, president and chief customer officer, Walgreens Retail. “We remain committed to our customers through price reductions on more than 1,000 additional items, effective October 2023.”
Walgreens became the latest retailer this month to offer consumers price cuts on hundreds of items. Target said earlier this month it would cut prices on about 5,000 commonly purchased items over the next few weeks, and Aldi said it would slash prices on more than 250 items this summer to combat inflation.

Gummy Mango Candy:Walgreens limits online sales to one bag per customer after gummy mango candy scandal
Walgreens restricts online sales of gummy mango candy after controversy
Walgreens is struggling to keep a certain candy in stock after it went viral.
Drugstore chain Walgreens confirmed to USA Today earlier this month that it had been forced to limit sales of its wildly popular peelable Gummy Mango candies to one bag per customer, but a company spokesperson said the limit was only online.
The product is part of Walgreens’ Nice! brand and is sold in stores and online for about $1.99.
“We’re really excited about the popularity of Nice! Mango Gummy Candy,” Marty Essarte, Walgreens’ vice president of private brands, told Today. “Due to the success of this product, we are now planning to expand stocking of the mango product to 8,000 stores on May 22.”
The peelable treats were released in about 2,500 stores nationwide last fall, according to Today. They were popular when they were released, but after reviews on TikTok went viral in January, they sold out nationwide in four days.
