Mountain communities often lack resources available in larger cities, and mental health care is a prime example. Vail Health’s Precourt Healing Center, still under construction, will address this critical need in the fight against the mental health crisis, while eventually providing comprehensive mental health support as well.
The 28-bed inpatient facility is designed to provide rapid help to people suffering from mental illness. Currently, highlanders must travel to big city centres for inpatient treatment, where they often have to wait for a bed to become available.

Vail Health said Precourt Healing Center doesn’t just offer a perfect centralized location, it prioritizes patient care through comfort.
“Everything is geared towards patient care,” says Craig Cohn, the company’s director of real estate development, including gyms on each floor for adolescent and adult patients and outdoor areas for fresh air that are closely monitored but not always available at other crisis care facilities.

Construction on the center is expected to be completed within six months, with staff hired and ready to accept patients by next spring. The project is the first step toward a full-fledged mental health campus offering both inpatient and outpatient care serving the Eagle County community.
