Solicitor General (SG) of India Tushar Mehta Appearing on behalf of the Union of India, he today told the Supreme Court that allopathy is beyond criticism and nothing can stop people from saying Ayurveda is more effective.
The court was dealing with a writ petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) under Section 32. order Patanjali dated February 27th ayurveda of some of the products manufactured and sold by the company for the purpose of dealing with the diseases/diseases/conditions referred to under the Medicines and Magical Cures (Offensive Advertising) Act, 1954 and Regulations. The court is issued notify acharya It asked Mr. Balakrishna and Mr. Baba Ramdev to show cause why proceedings should not be filed against them for contempt of court.

SG made his submissions before the bench. Judge Hima Kohli and Judge Asanuddin Amanullah.
During today’s hearing, Judge Kohli said: “…the way the Containers have done, disrespecting other fields of medicine, and us using the term ‘proposed Containers’ is most unacceptable.”
SG replied: “Lord! What I have seen is the relief part (of the IMA writ petition).”
Justice Amanullah added: “I saw the recording (of Baba Ramdev’s speech): ridicule, test…”
Then Tushar Mehta said: “Look at it from this angle. Reassurance number three, the Indian Medical Association says there can never be any criticism of allopathy. I am not involved in this issue. There can be criticism of allopathy. .A person can say Ayurveda is “allopathic,” that is, he may be right, he may be wrong, and it is more efficient.
Justice Kohli agreed that there can be criticism of any stream of medicine.
“What was true 20 years ago is not true now… There are people who only believe in homeopathy. Some doctors may say that homeopathy is not a medicine. This debate should (stop) you can’t… …,” SG Meter continued.
Judge Kohli said: “It’s okay. We’ll look into their reliever parameters at a later stage.”
“Mr. Mehta, we have observed that he (Ramdev) is doing a very good job for yoga. Please let him do a good job.” Justice Amanullah said:
”I don’t want to forget (contributed by Baba Ramdev) ..” SG submitted.
In response, Justice Kohli said: “As you may remember, Mr. Mehta, the Order initially ignored them for the same reason.”
SG said: “Your Excellency has been very kind to you, so I dared you to sit down with me and return to your lordship.”
Judge Kohli said: “We respect your opinion. We’ve made it clear to the contestants that we think they’re taking this process and the court process too lightly. If they continue with the flow, they will push themselves….”
Tushar Mehta agreed with the court about the delay in filing the affidavit by the defendants.
While posting the matter for further hearing on April 10, the court directed both Ramdev and Balakrishna to continue appearing in the hearing on the next date. The court also gave a final opportunity within a week to file an affidavit on the issue.
