Dr. Haley Simmer, owner and physician of Truckee Tahoe Naturopathic Clinic, was born and raised in Tahoe City, California. From an early age, she was always interested in the field of natural medicine. Ms. Simmer left the Tahoe area to pursue her degree, which earned her a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science.
After working in the physical therapy world for several years, Simmer always had a passion for the field of natural therapy and wanted to pursue it.
“Over the years, I’ve worked a variety of jobs in the health care field, but I always felt like naturopathic medicine was on my mind,” Simmer said. “At some point, I decided it was time to become a doctor, so I completed my prerequisites and attended medical school at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, graduating in 2022.”
Naturopathy is defined as a field of alternative medicine based on the theory that disease can be successfully treated or prevented without the use of drugs through active techniques such as diet, exercise, and massage.
After growing up locally and moving for his career, Mr. Simmer has always felt a desire to return to the Tahoe area over the years and is eager to return and become a part of the community.
“I have always wanted to return to the mountains, and I am so excited to be able to offer my services to this community,” Simmer said. “We have several naturopathic doctors in the area, but we felt our community needed more.”
Truckee Tahoe Naturopathic Medicine offers a variety of services to help and prevent illness, disease and problems, and Simmer said they can help many patients with the medical care they need.
“I consider myself a holistic primary care provider,” Simmer said. “I see anything that comes through the door. However, I specialize in digestive health, autoimmune diseases, and complex chronic diseases.”

“It’s been great getting to know members of the community, both old and new,” Simmer said. “I grew up here, so I always run into familiar faces, and it’s so nice to see everyone being a part of this community.” It’s great to be able to live here and enjoy the Tahoe lifestyle, like taking a dip in the morning. It’s very fulfilling.”
Looking to the future, Mr. Simmer is eager to grow Truckee Tahoe Naturopathic Medicine and offer a unique and proactive approach that breaks the mold of conventional medicine.
“I am accepting new patients and working diligently to help shift the need for more one-on-one, personalized care in this field,” Simmer said. “We feel we provide a truly special service by providing thorough, personalized care that is difficult to find.”
In addition to providing individual care, Simmer regularly hosts donation-based community health circle lectures in Tahoe City that are open to anyone.
“In my practice, I strive to focus on the root cause, rather than just treating the symptoms with drugs and quick-fix treatments,” Simmer said.
