It’s no surprise that Shania Twain is serious about skin care. Whether the star is walking the red carpet or performing high kicks on stage, she always shines.Fortunately, Twain tons About the secret of beauty. A while ago, she published her daily 5-minute makeup routine, and this time she will introduce her nightly skin care routine for anti-aging.
in the video of Harper’s Bazaar, Twain shared her must-have skin care products for gorgeous, healthy-looking skin and the steps she takes to prep her skin before bed. “My nightly bedtime routine is all about me,” Twain said. “I love going to bed with a refreshed, clean face. That’s how I spend my day.”
The star began by revealing the “positive side of menopause.” According to the “Queen of Me” singer, that doesn’t mean her skin is no longer “flaky” and “pimple-prone.” She explained to viewers that her current skin type is “typical T-zone oily area” and “mixed.” Check out her step-by-step process below.
remove makeup
The first step in Twain’s nightly skin care routine is removing her makeup with a homemade olive oil and sugar scrub. “Why do I use olive oil? You know, I recently found out, anything oil-based breaks down makeup and flushes out pores,” she explained (for more on this) (I’ll explain this in more detail later). In her video, Twain first pours “a good amount of sugar” and “just a few drops of olive oil” into her palm, mixes them together, and then gently rubs them onto her face. “So I don’t use makeup remover per se, I just mix olive oil and sugar together,” Twain says. “And I don’t rub it too hard.”
To remove the mixture, Twain dampens a cloth with “very hot water” and wipes it off. “I like to wipe it off rather than splatter it, because that’s part of exfoliating. You just have to be gentle and wipe it off.”
While olive oil may be beneficial for Twain’s skin, “it’s generally a no-no,” says Dr. Karan Lal, a double-certified cosmetic dermatologist at Affiliate Dermatology in Scottsdale, Arizona. DO, MS, FAAD) says. Dr. Lal says that while oils can actually help dissolve makeup, she recommends using an oil cleanser specifically formulated for your skin, or an oil like marula oil, argan oil, or sunflower seed oil instead. I will explain. why? “Olive oil has been linked to fungal and regular acne because it feeds yeast and disrupts the skin’s microbiome,” says Dr. Lal. Sugar also increases these risks and can physically damage the skin barrier, so Dr. Lal suggests chemical exfoliants as a gentler approach.
apply beauty serum
After removing her makeup, Twain said her skin felt “so good.” But she’s not done yet. “I’m still going to moisturize,” she explains. The next step in her routine is “Anti-Aging” Rationale #5 The Serum. This “moisturizes” and “plumps the skin,” she says. She uses a dropper bottle to drip her serum onto her fingers and dabs it onto areas where “fine lines are forming,” such as under her eyes and around her mouth.
Finish with night cream
Mr. Twain’s final step is a night cream, specifically Rationale #6 Night Cream. “I use my fingers. They say you can’t do that. I’m a bit of a wild child,” she says, dipping into a jar and warming her cream in her hands, rubbing it all over her face, neck and ears. I said while painting it. “Her ears also get dry and wrinkled,” she laughs.
That’s it; her routine is really simple. “I feel great without makeup because I’m not doing anything to my skin. Maybe I should? But right now I’m totally natural,” she explains. “This is my nightly bedtime routine. I like to keep it simple.”
