When Selena Gomez launched Rare Beauty three years ago, the focus was on makeup, but now she’s expanding the brand by branching out into a new vertical: body care. The Find Comfort Body Collection will be available at Sephora and Rare Beauty sites on December 19 (though avid shoppers can purchase it before then—more on that below).
As Gomez told ELLE.com over email, the expansion was always planned. “The decision to branch out into body care with the Find Comfort Body Collection was a thoughtful choice for us; it’s something we’ve wanted to do since the beginning, but knew we’d do it when the time was right,” she said. “We wanted to offer a comprehensive experience, so we started with four core products: a hand cream, a body lotion, a body and hair mist, and an aromatherapy pen. Each product took different times to develop, but we made sure it delivered a sensory experience that truly represented our brand and aligned with the theme of the collection. For us, self-comfort aligns with accepting yourself and feeling good in your own skin, without needing a perfect routine. It’s these small moments of comfort that are important, and they can be different for different people.”
Gomez spoke to ELLE.com in more detail about the new expansion, what’s next for the brand, and her go-to beauty looks for the holiday season, but first, you need to know each of the four products and Gomez’s thinking behind them.
Body & Hair Mist
The Body & Hair Mist ($28) is designed to add shine to your hair and relieve overall body stress with fragrance. It’s infused with biotin, niacinamide, and peach blossom extract, and smells like lemon zest, jasmine, and cashmere wood. “I’ve always been drawn to scent because it helps me unwind from the stresses of the day, and this mist does just that,” explains Gomez. “It’s bright and fresh, yet warm and comforting at the same time. I’m obsessed!”
Moisturizing Body Lotion
The hydrating body lotion ($28) is light, non-greasy, and packed with vitamins and antioxidants (including niacinamide, peach blossom extract, and natural stress reliever ashwagandha extract) to nourish and hydrate skin, keeping it hydrated for up to 24 hours. “I love that this body lotion keeps my skin hydrated and soft all day,” says Gomez. “It also has a light, refreshing scent that really puts you in the mood.”
Moisturizing hand cream
The moisturizing hand cream ($18) is infused with the same vitamins and antioxidants as the body lotion. It’s designed to absorb quickly into the skin to hydrate your hands and keep them moisturized even after you’ve washed them. “I love this hand cream because it’s thick but not sticky, and the scent is so calming and relaxing. I also love that it’s easy to twist open so you don’t have to worry about losing the cap,” says Gomez.
Aromatherapy Pen
The Aromatherapy Pen ($20) is a fast-absorbing gel that contains a natural blend of peppermint, lavender, and tonka bean aromatherapy oils to help relieve stress and tension in the body. It’s designed to be portable so you can use it whenever you need it. “We feel great when we can find an hour or more a day to relax, but that’s not always realistic,” Gomez admits. “That’s why we created the Aromatherapy Pen — a quick and easy way to get a moment of comfort whenever you need it.”
Mist and cream scent
Up: Lemon peel, rhubarb, pomelo
Mid: Jasmine petals, violets, black tea extract

All products are 100% cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free and dermatologist tested.
Here, Gomez reveals more about the collection in an interview with ELLE.
What surprised you about the development process for the Find Comfort Collection and your foray into the fragrance world? How did you make the final decision on how you wanted each product to smell?
When it came to the scent of Find Comfort, we wanted a warm and inviting vibe. We worked with a vetiver-focused perfumer to highlight vetiver and create a scent that everyone will love. Vetiver gives the scent a green, earthy and slightly smoky feel. Tonka bean was chosen to add warmth, comfort and a cozy, snuggly feel.
This is the first time Rare Beauty is offering products beyond just makeup. How has expanding the brand into this new category changed your overall vision? Is there any chance that Rare will explore other areas of body care (skincare, haircare, etc.) in the future?
Expanding into body care marks a big step and exciting opportunity for Rare Beauty, and we are committed to continuing to evolve and achieve the unexpected.
Rare Beauty is three years old now and growing faster than ever. You’ve said that when you first launched, you were scared it wouldn’t sell. How has the journey (and success) of this brand changed how you see yourself as a leader and businesswoman?
These past three years at Rare Beauty have been amazing. It has changed the way I see myself as a business woman. Don’t get me wrong, I am still learning and will continue to learn, but I have become more confident in making business decisions, leading teams and tackling challenges.
Speaking of scent, what scent do you associate with this chapter of your life and why?
This time in my life is filled with the scents from the Find Comfort Body Collection. A lot of time and energy went into creating this scent, and I know it will always remind me of this special time. The hand cream, body lotion and mist combine the uplifting scent of lemon zest and soft jasmine with the warmth of vetiver and tonka bean. It’s light, calm and inviting.
