Ricky Martin I missed the memo about aging. Call it Kiki’s Curious Case.
He spoke to ET’s Nichelle Turner about his latest project, an upcoming comedy series on AppleTV+. palm royale — The 52-year-old said he shaved his beard for an entire year to portray the character of Carol Burnett’s suave valet Robert. Although the fresh-faced look only made Martin look so much younger, his anti-aging secret is a much simpler approach.
“Old melanin and the good life,” Martin says. “I can drink lots of water. No drugs, no alcohol. Maybe that’s what it is.”
Perhaps it’s the ensemble cast that includes Martin, Burnett, Kristen Wiig, Kaia Gerber, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, and Amber Chadeh-Robinson joining AppleTV+’s upcoming series. Maybe it was the genuine happiness he exuded while there. palm royale The film is set in 1969 and follows an ambitious woman named Maxine Simmons (Wiig) who attempts to secure a seat at America’s most exclusive, fashionable and dangerous table, Palm Beach high society. It depicts a person who aspires to cross the line between the have-nots and the have-nots.
The series will premiere on AppleTV+ on March 20, and the process from start to finish was nothing short of exhilarating for Martin. When Martin was asked if he would rejoin the series if it saw another season, he didn’t skip a beat.

“Of course I’m in!” he shouts to ET. “This experience was life-changing. If this is what acting is, I think I won the lottery. I thank God for everything I went through during this whole process. And once again,” It resonates with people who are struggling with their identity and can shine a light on it with a little sense of humor.”
For Martin, working with Hollywood giants like Wiig and Burnett proved to be both challenging and rewarding. For example, when working with Wiig, Martin was required to put everything on the table. Well, anyway, it’s the script.
“It was important to me not to walk on set with a script in my hand,” Martin explained. “Here, read it. Leave it in the trailer and be open to whatever happens.”
There was a lot of improvisation on the set, especially in the case of Wiig, who gave a masterclass.
“She’s a force. She’s a force,” Martin said. “And for me, it was challenging at first. But then I loved it. Yeah, they say action and then they say cut, so what happens in between is up to you.” Obviously, there’s a story that you want to tell, but it’s like, “Get there. You’ll get there eventually, but have fun.” And the same thing happens to Laura, the same thing happens to Carol. I did.”
