She is also the co-founder of the tea brand JUNI. Most importantly, Devruchia is married to Jay Shetty, a podcaster, author, and life coach. Can you call it her couple goals? Most recently, Devrukia published her debut vegan cookbook. joyful. This book features over 125 mouth-watering plant-based recipes that put mindfulness at the heart of each dish.respectfully joyful”, we spoke to Devrkia about the vegan lifestyle and the inspiration behind the book. Here’s what she had to say!
VegOut (VO): Growing up a vegetarian, what first inspired you to quit dairy and adopt a fully vegan lifestyle?
Rady Devrukia (RD): I read eat animals Written by Jonathan Safran Foer, I couldn’t forget what I learned reading it.
VO: How does veganism align with your beliefs as a nutritionist, nutritionist and Ayurvedic student?
RD: They match perfectly! Health is about eating and living habits that not only fuel your body, but also boost your energy, mood, and mindset. When you eat animals, you’re basically eating their suffering, and it becomes part of you.
VO: Have you always had a knack for cooking, or did you start learning it after becoming vegan?
RD: When I was a child, my mother’s expression of love was cooking. I feel like watching her and eating the food she cooked for us instilled in me a similar relationship with food.
VO: What advice do you have for people who want to maintain a more whole-food, plant-based diet within their busy schedules?
RD: Have fun with meal planning, one-pot meals, experimenting in the kitchen. Instead of trying everything at once, start with your favorite dishes, repeat, and slowly add new ones until your week is filled with meals you absolutely love. Also, plan your macros to ensure your meals are balanced. Choose your favorite vegetables, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats and mix and match.
VO: Congratulations on your new vegan cookbook. joyful! How did the idea for this book first come about?
RD: After studying nutrition, becoming a hospital dietitian, and studying Ayurveda, I learned and practiced many things that changed my life, from the way I eat to my healthy habits during the day. And I wanted to share it with others. I hope it’s the same for them!
VO: Please tell us the story behind the name of your cookbook.
RD: I believe that life should produce more moments of joy every day. And we have the choice to do that for ourselves through what we eat, what we think, and our daily practices. joyful Vibrant, colorful and filled with things that are good for the mind, body and spirit, they give people moments of joy.
VO: What kind of recipes can our readers expect? joyful?
RD: We have everything from smashed chipotle beans and avocado quesadillas to roasted red pepper tagliatelle, spicy bean burgers, healthy curries, lentil dishes and, of course, saucy treats. Basically, there’s something for everyone.
VO: I’m so happy that veganism is expanding beyond diet and into lifestyle. What are your favorite cruelty-free beauty products?

VO: You’re also an avid yogi. What similarities do you find between yoga and veganism?

RD: We need to learn to listen to our bodies more than what others tell us is good for us. Our bodies speak to us every moment of every day, and getting back to that state is the beginning of improving our health.
