UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — The Arc of Prince George’s County hosted an event Saturday aimed at helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn how to manage their mental health, physical fitness and wellness.
The Ready 2B Healthy Youth, Family, Fitness & Fun Festival featured interactive workshops, therapy activities and healthy snacks. The Upper Marlboro festival also featured a “Stress-Free Dance Party” and gardening tips.
According to a press release, highlights of the event included designing a mental health plan with personalized strategies, creating self-care crafts with a focus on mindfulness and experiencing a relaxing sound bath.
Rob Malone, CEO of Prince George’s County, Ark., said the Ready 2B Healthy Youth, Family, Fitness & Fun Festival is more than just an event.
“This is a movement about total self-acceptance and nurturing,” he said.
