Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Austrian Nobel laureate in physics Anton Zeilinger to explore the potential of quantum technology and also discussed spirituality.
The Austrian scientist said after meeting PM Modi he realised he is a very spiritual person.
“I think this is a trait that many leaders in the world today should have,” Zeilinger said.
“We also discussed the potential of quantum information and quantum technologies, and spirituality,” he added. Zeilinger is professor emeritus of physics at the University of Vienna and senior scientist at the Austrian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information.
In October 2022, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics jointly with Alan Aspect and John Crowther for their work on entangled photons, the proof of violation of Bell inequality, and pioneering research in quantum information science.
On the same day, PM Modi met with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer and said that a blueprint for cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technology is being prepared for decades to come. India has launched over 40 quantum technology start-ups in two years, several of which have global potential. India is now on par with other countries in the field of quantum technology.
