My friend was an old lady’s hand when he was a teenager.

A beauty guru learned how to rejuvenate wrinkled hands from a close friend.

She said that before she regularly used anti-aging tips, her best friend’s hands could be mistaken for her grandmother’s.

She shared her advice after a Redditor complained about her “old” hands.

On the Skincare Addiction subreddit @let_me_use_Reddit, the beauty enthusiast said her teenage best friend’s hands looked older than the rest of her body.

“When she was 12 years old, her hands looked like they belonged to Nana,” she said.

“I understand exactly what you mean, even if no one else does.

“I say this because, like her, I think you’ve been chronically moisturizing for the past 10 years to get relief from moisturizing.

“Ironically (and wonderfully) her face is anything but trailing and looks younger than most of us.

“It was always just her hands.

“Everything else about her was literally perfect.

“I think you’re probably the same. Do you know how many women would kill just to have beautiful hands?”

The Redditor shared some skin care tips she’s learned over their 10-year friendship.

“I put retinol on my hands,” she said. “For example, a full face routine to the hands.

I’m dealing with 3 drugstore-bought hand wrinkles. Let it absorb for a few minutes. I also use it on my decolletage.

“Even if your face doesn’t need it. Do a retinol face routine for your hands at night.

“Hyaluronic acid every time you wash your hands. Never skip it.”

She added that if all else fails, hand fillers are an option.

“Yes, sadly this does exist,” she said.

“But it’s especially for people like my old best friend, and maybe you’ve never seen your own hands, and you don’t know if they look like the ones she had. I feel like it was made.

“I’m not recommending this out of the blue, but if you’ve tried 1 and 2 and haven’t seen any improvement, and you’re still really concerned, you should consider this.”

Many people upvoted this post to express their gratitude for the advice.

Anti-aging tips and “superstar” products

Dr. Anatalia Moore is a general practitioner and dermatologist with over 11 years of clinical experience.

She told US Sun that her goal is to equip patients with the knowledge they need to take control of their skin journey.

She said the basics of a beauty routine are the same at any age and should include an effective cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF.

“More than products with active ingredients, moisturizers are my superstar,” she said.

“Finding a well-balanced moisturizer that provides the right kind of hydration, replaces and seals in natural oils can literally stabilize your skin.

“This on its own can instantly soothe fine lines and texture that are exacerbated by dryness.

“It also allows the skin to function as it should.

“Then you’ll heal faster, especially with fewer lines and wrinkles, fewer flare-ups of dermatitis and rosacea, and potentially minor breakouts in the short term.”

Dr. Moore’s skin care basics:

  • Obagi Hydrate and Hydrate Luxe Moisturizer, $78
  • enough sleep
  • balanced diet
  • stress reduction

Several commenters said they also use retinol, a form of vitamin A, in their hand care routines.

According to Dr. Aesthetica, your hands are the most visible part of your body, so it’s not uncommon for them to age faster than other parts of your body.

Experts recommend using sunscreen and vitamin C serum daily to protect your skin from sunlight and environmental stressors.

Dermal fillers are considered the “most effective” treatment for reviving hands with visible veins, while those with flaky skin may benefit from topical retinoids.
