Stafford to Stone
Maeve McCanruty, known as the Metal Masseur, is not your typical medical professional. Maeve has a background as rich and diverse as the essential oils he blends. Maeve has combined her love of heavy metal music, her commitment to women’s health, and her passion for natural health to create a truly unique service. Having only been around for less than a year, Mabe has already made a huge impact at Stafford and is now ready to expand his reach with a dedicated space at Stone.
Metal Masseuse was born out of a desire to create a space that welcomes everyone, regardless of their interests or background. Maeve’s approach is rooted in inclusivity and focuses on underrepresented and understudied areas of women’s health. Her treatment is tailored to her individual needs and focuses on sleep, energy, pain, and stress management. These are the pillars of health, and when they are out of balance, it can have a major impact on your daily life.
Maeve told Little Bit Stone:
“I have tattoos and listen to heavy metal, which is not an aesthetic typical of the health and wellness industry. Just to be clear, these are the prerequisites for coming to see me. It’s not a condition.
Metal Masseuse is for everyone, not just headbangers. That said, a post-show neck massage is just the ticket.“
The services provided by Maeve go beyond a standard massage. After a thorough consultation, clients receive a personalized treatment plan that includes a proprietary blend of natural essential oils tailored to their specific needs. From ingredient selection to packaging, sustainability is at the core of Maeve’s practice, ensuring an environmentally friendly approach to health.

Perfect for Carla’s boutique
Our partnership with Carla’s came about through mutual connections. Stone is very similar to its close-knit business community. This collaboration is a testament to Stone’s collaborative environment, where local businesses come together to support and uplift each other.
Speaking about the Stone business community, Maeve said:
“The move to Cala seemed perfect. I have lived in Stone for many years now and have access to existing business owners who are ready to actively support people like me who are just starting out.” That’s great.
I think Mr. Stone is great at coming together and supporting local businesses. She is a supporter of my work and has already partnered with Danni from Deviant Ink, and I’m looking forward to forging new connections. ”
Deal with misconceptions and celebrate their blessings
Maeve is passionate about addressing common misconceptions about aromatherapy and massage therapy, highlighting the complementary nature of her research and conventional medicine.
“A common misconception is that complementary and alternative therapies negate conventional medicine. Not true! What we do is exactly what it sounds like. If so, we are here to complement it.
This is especially true during perimenopause, when sleep and stress can be particularly problematic. Aromatherapy can also help support chronic pain. Support other than drug pain relief may be needed in this area.
Also, not all of us use standard pre-blended massage oils. All oils, from the base carrier to the essential oils, are carefully selected according to the information provided by the customer during the consultation. This also depends on your personal preference, whether you want a boost of energy or a restful night’s sleep. And right down to whether you really love (or hate) lavender! ”
