Our first-year spiritual formation experience, “Shift,” helps freshmen build community, adjust to college life, and learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
My First Week at Bethel
When first-year students arrive for Welcome Week, many Bethel University students will be waiting to help them move in and settle in. The move-in team also includes shift leaders, whose goal is to help each new student feel welcome and loved.
Throughout the week, the goal is for new students to come together as a class, get to know each other, have fun and build relationships.
Build a community on every floor
Shift Leaders are upperclassmen committed to supporting first-year dorm floor residents. They mentor and help build relationships, build community, and ask deeper questions about life and faith. Every Wednesday night, they host a “shift,” a time when floor residents come together for a Bible-based discussion about following Jesus and having faith.
Shifts for commuting students
There are also commuter shifts available on Wednesday mornings when there are no classes, from 10:15 to 11:00 am.
participate
If you are a freshman, get to know your shift leaders and join the community they are creating on your floor or commuter shift. If you are interested in becoming a shift leader, please email christian-formation@bethel.edu.
