“I became more attached to my lifestyle and the way I lived.”
Lenny Kravitz on embracing single life at 60 and staying fit
In a recent interview with The Guardian published on Thursday, May 30, Lenny Kravitz spoke about his decision to remain single for the past nine years. The 60-year-old musician revealed that he’s on a spiritual journey and is waiting to find the right partner before getting intimate again.
“Yes, it’s a mental thing,” Kravitz told The Guardian. This isn’t the first time he’s spoken out about being single. In 2008, he offered a similar view to Maxim magazine, saying, “Until marriage, it’s just a commitment. Now in my life, a woman has to be with me, not just her body, but her mind and her spirit as well.”
Despite remaining single, Kravitz also said he would like to be in a relationship in the future, and acknowledged the potential challenges his habits might bring: “I’m very set in the way I do things, the way I live my life,” he admitted in the interview.
The conversation also touched on Kravitz’s dedication to staying physically fit, and he maintains a rigorous training routine, even if it means he’s at the gym at a different time than normal. “Take last night for example,” he says. “I work all day, I do interviews and rehearse late into the night, and when I get home, it’s 11 p.m. and I have to eat something. It’s 1 a.m. and I missed my workout. So I go to the gym at 2 a.m. and do a 90-minute workout. I don’t want to be in the gym at 2 a.m., but I know I have to do it.”
Kravitz emphasizes the importance of discipline for overall health. “Because that’s part of my discipline. It’s about body, mind and spirit,” he explained. “I want all three of those things to be in harmony. If my body is healthy, but my mind and my heart aren’t, then it’s just something to look good and brag about. Who cares? For me, everything has to be in harmony, and I have to put in the effort it takes to get all of those things in harmony so that I can perform at my best.”
