When it comes to skin care, it contains many ingredients that are effective in eliminating wrinkles.
But one dermatologist has revealed exactly three anti-aging ingredients that actually work, despite popular belief. It has nothing to do with hydration.
Dr. Christo Thomasian took to social media to rank the six best ingredients for reversing the signs of aging, placing the least effective ones at the bottom.
Dermatologists began using the pyramid system to identify targeted ingredients from least to most effective.
Breaking the first paper, skin care experts have ranked hyaluronic acid as the least effective ingredient at eliminating wrinkles, mimicking the pyramid system from the reality show “Dance Moms.”
Hyaluronic acid helps keep skin hydrated and improves elasticity, but he revealed there are other ingredients that are even more effective.

Next, the list included peptides. This can help improve fine lines, but is most effective when combined with more active ingredients.
Alpha hydroxy acids (commonly known as AHAs) were also at the bottom when it comes to reversing the signs of aging.
Chemical exfoliants can help improve skin texture and fine lines, but there’s another product that Dr. Thomasian praises even more.
Here are three products that will make a huge difference to your wrinkles. The use of vitamin C is recommended by beauty professionals.
This holy grail ingredient helps increase collagen to prevent wrinkles and brighten your skin for a youthful glow.
Next on the list is SPF, which we all know is essential to protect your skin from the sun, the number one cause of aging.
Last but not least, dermatologists ranked retinol as the most effective ingredient for removing wrinkles.
There are many reasons why retinol is good for your skin – increasing cell production, exfoliating, eliminating blackheads and acne, increasing collagen production, and more.
“#evaluating anti-aging ingredients,” he captioned the post.
The clip has since gone viral on the doctor’s TikTok account @dr.tomassian, where it has been viewed more than 770,000 times and received 22,000 likes.
People were quick to take in the comments, with many agreeing with his ranking.
“The holy trinity: retinol, SPF, and vitamin C,” one person wrote.
Another commented, “I knew retinol was there. You taught me well.”
“Sunscreen is king,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I’m using them all and sure enough, I look younger than my age.”
“Yay! These three ingredients are my best friends,” claimed a fifth.
Another added: “A smashing success! Absolutely!”
