A renowned dermatologist reveals the most effective routine for slowing down the signs of ageing.
His clients include A-list celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Nicole Scherzinger.
Since opening his practice in 1998, Dr. Simon Ouran has become one of Hollywood’s most popular dermatologists.
He has worked with stars such as Olivia Culpo, Megan Fox and Iggy Azalea.
He told the US Sun his secrets for fighting the signs of ageing without invasive treatments.
Ageless
Dr Ourian revealed that there is no set age at which one should start using specially formulated beauty products to maintain a youthful appearance.
“A genetic predisposition to aging may influence when to start using anti-aging products,” he said.
“If there’s a tendency in your family to develop early signs of aging, it may be wise to be proactive.”
He said that using antioxidants and applying sunscreen regularly from a young age could prevent future damage.
“It is crucial to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or above every day to protect the skin from UV damage, which is the main cause of premature ageing,” he said.

Dr. Ourian recommended consulting a dermatologist for personalized skin care advice.
But his “general rule of thumb” is to start with a lighter viscosity product and work your way up to a “heavier or thicker” product.
“This ensures that each product penetrates the skin effectively and that the active ingredients are properly absorbed,” he said.
He shared a step-by-step guide to an effective skin care regimen.
“Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and impurities,” he says.
“This prepares the skin for subsequent products and allows the products to penetrate better.
Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type: lighter ones for oily skin, thicker ones for dry skin, and gel-based ones for combination skin.

“After washing your face, apply toner to balance the skin’s pH levels and remove any remaining dirt or makeup.
“Not everyone needs a toner, so this step is optional.”
Next, Dr. Ourian recommends applying targeted treatments like serums and boosters.
“These products usually contain active ingredients such as antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to address specific skin concerns,” he said.
“Apply a moisturizer to hydrate and seal in moisture.
“Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type – a lighter one for oily skin, a thicker one for dry skin, and a gel-based one for combination skin.”
“Finish your morning routine with sunscreen and, if you wear makeup, apply it as the last step before applying it.
