The 39-year-old has revealed the skincare essentials she swears by to slow down the signs of ageing.
She confessed that she regrets the amount of money she spent on ineffective products when she was younger.
She shared her beauty tips on Reddit’s 30 Plus Skincare forum in response to a user asking how to get rid of wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes.
Fountain of Youth
The woman said “high-quality” sunscreen and the prescription drug tretinoin were essential to combating the signs of ageing.
“You have no idea how much money I could have saved at age 32 (I’m 39 now) by scaling back on my skincare routine and saving that money for a few dermatologist visits,” she writes under the handle ToteBagAffliction.
She recommended a “strong” SPF and tretinoin, then introduced me to some budget-friendly skin care products.
“The rest of my routine is boring and affordable, but I’ve really grown to love removing my sunscreen and makeup with Albolene, cleansing with CeraVe foaming cleanser, and moisturizing with Vanicream,” she said.
“I have the face version and the regular bottle, but I think the regular bottle is the best.
“For fun and a treat, I love facial mists and hydrating sheet masks, but budget constraints mean I haven’t used either for a long time, and it doesn’t change the condition of my skin.”
Maintaining a youthful appearance also requires a focus on lifestyle habits and a healthy diet that protect the skin from photodamage, she said.

She recommended limiting your intake of alcohol, sugar and processed carbohydrates, and getting enough sleep.
“If your commute is sunny or you’re outdoors a lot, consider buying sun protection with UPF,” she adds.
“I have fingerless gloves for driving and a sunshade that I use when walking from my car to the office. Both are made by Coolibar and are super handy.”
People who believe in beauty
Many people upvoted the post expressing their appreciation for the anti-aging tip, with other Reddit users revealing that they follow a similar skincare routine.
“Sunscreen, tretinoin, drink water and use a good moisturizer,” one person said.
“I have a baby face, so I guess I’ll start at second base.”
“Tretinoin, Korean SPF, Vitamin C serum, any good moisturizer,” said another.
“I layer my CeraVe and Vanicream, LED masks, and hyaluronic acid capsules every day to prevent the dryness caused by tretinoin. At 43, my skin looks better than it did at 23.”
A third commenter confessed she regrets becoming “stricter” about sunscreen since entering her 40s, and shared her favourite beauty brands.
“I wish I had taken a more proactive approach in my teens and twenties!” they say. “I didn’t care and thought I was invincible and would look young forever.
“Then, use active ingredients on an ongoing basis: retinol or tretinoin, vitamin C, niacinamide, peptides, exfoliants and growth factors.”
“Active ingredients like these are the only products worth investing your money in.
“When it comes to moisturizer, you don’t need to pay too much. You can buy a cheap one at the drugstore and it will be just as effective.”
“Try using a non-foaming cleanser too. Again, it doesn’t have to be an expensive one.”
“My favorite brands of active ingredients that aren’t too expensive are Drunk Elephant and Sunday Riley.”
How does sunscreen prevent aging?
Dr. Michael Aziz, physician and author of the upcoming book, “The Ageless Revolution,” explained how sunscreen helps prevent aging.
“Sunscreen protects the skin by acting as a barrier against harmful UV rays,” Dr Aziz told the US Sun.
“Sunscreen ingredients come in two types: mineral and chemical.
“Mineral ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide form a physical shield, reflecting UV rays away from the skin.
“Without SPF protection, your skin will try to protect itself from the sun’s rays and develop uneven pigmentation, which can lead to sun damage like dark spots and premature aging.
“Using sunscreen is essential to prevent this and maintain healthy skin.”
