Here at the Who What Wear UK office, we talk about all sorts of things. Of course, we naturally gravitate towards this season’s trendy must-haves and the latest skincare products. But we also love to talk about the more mystical topics in the wellness realm. Holistic treatments, regimes and astrology are all common topics of conversation around the office. Whatever your stance on treatments and regimes, it’s sure to be a hot topic around the office.
A hot topic lately is crystals. Crystal healing is one of the most polarizing health topics you can bring up in a conversation, with people usually falling into one of three camps: those who roll their eyes and think it’s nonsense, those who believe that crystal healing works, and those who believe that crystal healing works. something Some understand but don’t fully understand, others believe it completely.
What about me? I’m somewhere in between. I don’t know much about crystals, but I have friends who do, and I swear by them. I’ve always been drawn to alternative therapies, and as a beauty editor, I tend to gravitate toward science and hard facts, but I try to keep an open mind.
So, as part of our efforts to test new wellness treatments and experiences at Who What Wear, I brought crystal skeptic Brand Content Editor Rebecca Rees-Evans along with me, a self-proclaimed crystal-loving Beauty Editor, for our first crystal healing session. During the crystal session, we closed our eyes and waved our hands over the crystals we had chosen, and felt a tingling or attraction towards the crystal that spoke to us.
My perspective before receiving crystal healing: To be honest, I was very skeptical of crystals. I knew very little (and I mean nothing) about them and I always felt a bit negative about anything crystal related. Sound baths, silence retreats, burning sage, moon water (just google it), astrological readings, etc. just didn’t appeal to me. If someone says “your chakras are clogged,” I literally run away.
Maybe it’s because my journalistic nature is always seeking the truth (unlikely), or maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini (apparently I have Mercury rising, does that mean anything?). Either way, it’s nothing personal; I’m cynical about most things in life. I think the stone itself is beautiful, and I like the nostalgic, kitsch elements of the culture (Mystic Meg, CraftingFor me, these ideas have lost their authenticity over the past decade, especially with their popularity on social media. “Dressing to match your horoscope” or buying jewelry to “bring good vibes” often make me question them. Is that actually true or just a fad?
But that being said, I’m a very open-minded person, and even though I didn’t believe it, there was a part of me that really wanted to. I have a lot of friends, both professionally and personally, who are passionate believers in crystals, so when I had the opportunity to meet Knowles, who is well-known in the crystal healing industry, I was super excited.
Rebecca Rees-Evans is captivated by the crystal lineup.
My Crystal Healing Experience: When we met Knowles, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but she had such an amazing energy. She was warm, welcoming and kind and made us feel at ease, but she was also fun and the kind of person you’d want to sit next to at a dinner party. She showed us to our appointment room. I wouldn’t call it the Crystal Room because there were crystals everywhere, from the door to the top of the stairs, even outside, welcoming us. There was a sense of tranquility in the space.
As we sat on the floor together, admiring the rows of crystals laid out in front of us, the first thing we had to do was pick three or four crystals that spoke to us. Naturally, we picked ones that we liked the look of. I didn’t feel any magnetic pull or sudden attraction to any of the crystals. I actually picked one because I thought it would look great on my kitchen countertop. But so far, so good. I was on board.
Then it gets interesting. Knowles told us to create an energy ball by rubbing our hands together, then slowly moving them away from each other and back again (bear with me on this one). This is where my sarcastic side got the better of me, but of course I persisted. She told us to stop when we felt a “thickness of energy, almost like a brick.” [our] “What do I want? What do I need?” Knowles said to herself as she slowly moved one hand over the crystals. With some crystals, Knowles said, I might feel a tugging or tingling sensation. As she said, I felt it strongly. There was a sensation and weight under my hand, especially (and perhaps appropriately) under my middle finger.
We each chose four crystals in this way, and she read us based on what we chose and what spoke to her. My reading was mostly about work and love life. What Knowles wanted to say was that I was overthinking the situation, seeing the negative in my work, and that I should “move forward” instead. In other words, she was telling me not to sweat the small stuff.
My verdict: Am I a total convert? Probably not. My biggest takeaway, and what surprised me the most, was that I could actually feel the sensations from the crystals and physically feel my aura. I never thought it would be so easy to get a physical sensation. I left the session feeling so relaxed, eager to learn more, and eager to see Knowles again. I realised that taking the time to talk about yourself and have a moment of real introspection, whether it be through therapy, meditation or crystal healing, is always healthy in whatever form it takes. Do I think crystals have healing powers now? Yes, if you’re willing to accept it. But can you imagine me in bed surrounded by £50,000 worth of rose quartz, like Spencer Pratt? I don’t think so. But you can’t say never.

Next it was my turn to choose a crystal, closing my eyes and reaching for it, waiting for the tingling and feeling.
My perspective before receiving crystal healing: I’ve always been pretty open-minded when it comes to alternative therapies. I’ve tried Reiki, acupuncture, and reflexology, and I love the holistic side of the wellness field. I also love anything astrological. (As you may know, I’m a Cancer.) Interestingly, when I write about beauty for Who What Wear UK, I tend to lean towards science-backed skincare products. However, I’m increasingly open to “unconventional” treatments. I believe that just because something isn’t backed by research papers or fully understood doesn’t mean it can’t have benefits for our health. That being said, my knowledge of crystals is limited, so I went into the session with curiosity and an open mind.
My Crystal Healing Experience: Knowles welcomed us into her space and I immediately felt at ease. She had a calming vibe and was excited about what we were about to experience. As Rebecca had said, we sat cross-legged on the floor and in front of us were around 100 crystals of all shapes, sizes and colours. As I rubbed my palms together to create an energy ball, I worried I was letting my thoughts wander too much. What if I didn’t feel anything? I thought. But when I held my hand over the stone, I felt it. As I held my hand over the crystal, I felt a heightened awareness in my palm and a tingling sensation in one of my fingers. Everyone is different so it’s hard to pinpoint, but there is definitely a sense that I am drawn to some stones and not others. It took me a while to find the stone that “spoke” to me, but Knowles encouraged me to take the time to squash the negative voice within.
She then asked me to choose one crystal that I didn’t like. I looked through the bunch and picked a small, fiery red stone. She then told me what my crystal said about me and my life ahead. Pointing to a dalmatian-shaped, spherical jasper crystal, she said, “You really trust everyone, but you don’t completely trust yourself. have “Confidence in yourself, a sense of trust in yourself, is very important.” Indeed, Anyone I don’t know if she could interpret the meaning of that statement, but I personally resonated with it. And I was quite surprised at how well she read my mind. I didn’t like the red stone I chose, but what about that? “Your choice of red jasper crystal is a very fiery stone,” she said. “This is a crystal that pierces flames.” In other words, I need to bring more of this fiery energy into my life and not worry about what other people think. As she continued to explain the other crystals I chose, it was like a jigsaw puzzle came together and she was reading my mind like a book. Visually, all the stones I chose were calm and muted in color, but the red stone stood out among them.
After the reading, we chose two crystals to hold during the guided meditation. As I held the two crystals in my palms (a Dalmatian jasper crystal and a shard of citrine), I felt my hands begin to heat up, especially the broken shard. “The broken shards often feel more intense,” Knowles explained, noting that the raw facets have a stronger energy and the polished crystals feel less intense.
This is the lineup of crystals I chose during my crystal healing session.
My verdict: Am I a crystal convert? I have been thinking about it ever since my session with Knowles. So I think it’s fair to say I am a crystal convert, and I want to learn more. I left the session feeling uplifted and motivated, like after a heart-to-heart with a close friend. I left the session with a new perspective and I’m glad that the session gave me a different perspective on how I think. It’s a different approach than the practical advice I get from friends, it feels more spiritual, and it encourages me to look deeper within myself. And whether it’s a placebo effect or not, the session definitely made me feel better. I would definitely book with Knowles again to learn more and gain more understanding.
Next time I feel exhausted I will always come back to this product.
