Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Tuesday (June 13) that admission to yoga and naturopathy courses will not depend on NEET scores and will begin immediately after the declaration of Class XII results.
The Tamil Nadu government took this decision after listening to the concerns of university administrators in the state. They told the minister that several slots for these courses had been wasted because the admission process, which was supposed to be completed by August, had been postponed until February next year.

Ever since NEET was made compulsory for undergraduate courses in Siddha, Unani, Homeopathy and Ayurveda, the schedule of yoga and naturopathy counseling has been delayed. Counseling for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy courses will start only after 3 rounds of counseling for MBBS/BDS courses in the state. It’s a domino effect.
The minister said that the yoga and naturopathy course does not require students to clear NEET, so they did not have to wait that long for admission.

He also said the government would raise awareness about these courses and asked private universities to promote them as alternative career options for students.
