Prominent Ghanaian naturopathy professor, Professor Raphael Nyarkoti Oboo, who is currently studying for the barrister course at the Gambia School of Law in Banjul, has been honored by the Gambia National Association of Traditional Healers (TRAHASS). .
He was honored at the recently concluded 1st Traditional and Alternative Medicine National Conference “Legal Regulation of Traditional and Alternative Medicine Practitioners in The Gambia” for his significant contribution to the traditional medicine industry in Gambia during his legal education at Gambia Law School. The event was held at the University of Gambia in Brikama and brought together over 500 practitioners from home and abroad to discuss the need and importance of the law in The Gambia.
His recognition comes as a result of his contribution to promoting national legislation on traditional medicine in The Gambia. He also provided a scholarship package worth $10,000 to a traditional healer to pursue a diploma program in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine at Nyarkoti University College of Holistic Medicine & Technology in Ashaiman, Ghana . The university is also an educational member of the World Naturopathic Federation (WNF) in Canada.
For decades, Gambia’s traditional healers have been fighting for the nation.
