Alicia Zenhausen Pfeiffer, NMD, FABNO, better known as Dr. Zen. I am a naturopathic doctor at NMD Wellness in Scottsdale.
“At NMD Wellness in Scottsdale, we help our patients create a healthy lifestyle plan tailored to their needs, from preconception to postpartum, that improves not only their health but also the health of their future baby. Using an evidence-based, integrative approach, we bridge the gap between conventional and naturopathic medicine to help patients who are just starting their fertility journey, have been trying to conceive for a while, or are considering IVF. It helps provide effective strategies for couples, whether they’re preparing for it or not.”
AZF: What is your “motto in life”?
Dr. Zen: There is no greater gift you can give or receive than honoring your mission.
AZF: Did you always want to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize it was the right path for you?
Dr. Zen: When I was in medical school, I told myself I would never own my own practice. However, it wasn’t until I started practicing medicine that I realized that something was missing from both conventional and natural fertility treatments. I am completely obsessed with the idea of building a practice that can support women throughout their hormonal and fertility journey in the ways I know they need and, most importantly, deserve. became. This passion grew beyond myself and led me to open her NMD Wellness in Scottsdale.
AZF: How do you feel most supported?
Dr. Zen: I am extremely fortunate to not only have the support of an amazing husband and family, but also to be surrounded by like-minded women who are successful in strong businesses in the medical field and beyond. I think so.
AZF: What motivates you to keep going despite the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
Dr. Zen: My patients motivate me every day.
AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
Dr. Zen: A matcha latte in hand, a walk around the lake with my son Jackson, and an inspirational podcast sounds like the perfect start to my Saturday.
AZF: What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs just starting out?
Dr. Zen: Practice being comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
