As a wellness girl, I’m no stranger to meditation. Over the years, I’ve read every book, listened to every podcast, tried meditation countless times, and the results have always been the same. I found it difficult to concentrate. My brain just couldn’t seem to quiet down. I thought maybe meditation wasn’t for me.
But what I have found to work for me are affirmations. It’s easy to remember, doesn’t necessarily require a quiet place, and can be said anytime and anywhere. After learning how much I enjoy doing affirmations, I thought, “What if I could do both?” Introducing: The Superhuman App. This app combines the best of both meditation and affirmations, and after seeing some of my favorite influencers and wellness girls raving about it, I decided to give it a try. Read below to learn more about the Superhuman app and my experience incorporating it into my health routine.
What is a superhuman?
If you’ve listened to The Everygirl Podcast, you may be familiar with Mimi Bouchard, CEO and founder of Superhuman, a meditation app filled with audio recordings. Ms. Bouchard started her app after her self-embodiment practice changed her life. She wanted to give others the tools to live their best lives and reach their ultimate potential. Traditional meditation usually requires a quiet space and plenty of time to focus on your breathing and repeat a mantra or affirmation. However, superhumans do not follow this formula. Instead, it offers meditations and affirmations that can be done in everyday situations like getting ready, running errands, or cooking. In other words, it’s a combination of meditation and multitasking that aims to rewire your brain and prepare you for success and positive thinking. Superhuman also promises to “enhance your busy life, not distract from it.” It is wonderful.
The app has a variety of topics to choose from, including motivational pep talks, stress and anxiety relief, relaxation for sleep, and manifestos to help you take a step toward your future self. You can also choose meditation depending on the time of day. There’s also frequency music you can listen to instead if you’re not in the mood for audio meditation. TLDR; Superhuman has something for everyone.
My experience using the app
As someone who had previously tried meditation without success, I was skeptical that the Superhuman app would be different from anything I’d tried before. To better manage my stress and strengthen my manifestation practice, I decided to try it instead of always listening to true crime podcasts while walking, cooking, or driving to work. .
At first, it felt awkward to do my usual work while someone spoke to me in a soothing voice about reframing my way of thinking, but it didn’t take me long to get used to it. In fact, I started preferring listening to meditation over music or podcasts, and reached for it without thinking.
After a week or two, they became a regular part of my routine. I enjoyed listening to morning motivational meditations to start my morning in a positive headspace before leaving the house. We’ve also come to rely on them for instant relief in stressful situations or to lift our spirits when we’re feeling down. Also, since I started filling my time with positive thoughts, I felt happier, less stressed, and more energized overall, and I noticed that it had an impact on my mood and thoughts. I noticed. Audio that focuses on my future self and manifestation has been helpful as it gives me an immediate and easy way to tap into more confident energy. This has really changed how I show up before a big meeting or gym session.
verdict
After a month of incorporating the Superhuman app into my daily health routine, I can officially say I’m a meditation convert for several reasons. First, the guided aspect of Superhuman meditation takes the pressure off of meditating “correctly.” Previously, I felt stressed when I focused on my breathing or tried to eliminate thoughts, but with Superhuman, I focused my attention on the soothing recorded voice and the message being shared. If my thoughts drift away from the meditation, I simply return my attention to the recording and the words being spoken, but in traditional meditation, I get frustrated with other thoughts creeping in.
I also enjoyed the different length meditations on the app. They offer everything from a 2-minute reset to a 30-minute morning meditation, both of which I absolutely love listening to. Two-minute resets and other short recordings are great for when you need a quick reset during the day or after a stressful situation. Also, long recordings are great for listening to during hot girl walks or long drives.
I was originally a skeptic as well, but meditation and affirmations helped me reframe my mindset and improve my overall mood. I look forward to continuing to incorporate Superhuman meditation into other aspects of my daily life and use it to continue to live my best life.
