Spiritual healing is always White Lotus Spiritual Healing Founder Veronica Cintron’s life story: As a child growing up between the South Bronx in New York and Puerto Rico, she would pick herbs from the ground and make healing potions in the cauldrons her mother bought her.
“This is where I’ve been,” says Cintron, who offers integrative energy therapies, Reiki, life and business coaching, and meditation from her Pawtucket studio. “I grew up in a household that prioritized alternative therapies, so I bring in people who do shamanic massages, which is what we grew up with.”
But it took a while for her to find her way back to her destined path. After a successful corporate career in her early 20s, she couldn’t help but feel dissatisfied. Meditation, yoga, and pilates were great first steps, but Cintron needed something deeper. After starting a few companies, selling one of them, and contributing to a digital branding agency V+R Digital She and her wife founded White Lotus Spiritual Healing in 2016.
The white lotus is considered to be the womb of the world and symbolizes spiritual purity.
“[White Lotus] “It represents a recognition that you need something more,” says Cintrón. For her, that’s where the journey really begins. “We all get to a point in our lives, in our journey, where something just doesn’t feel right or right and we stop. That in itself is a moment of recognition that something needs to change, that we need something else.”
A look back at Cintron’s many titles – and the list goes on and on
Cintron’s journey to become who she is today – a Certified Master Instructor of Integrated Energy Therapies, Reiki Master Teacher, Certified Life & Business Coach, Meditation Instructor, Tarot Reader and Certified Master Herbalist – has taken some time, but she has no plans to rest anytime soon and is always thinking about other ventures she’d like to explore.
“That’s forever to me. I’m always going to be that person,” Cintron says. “I’m going to find ways to grow and develop my natural talents and gifts.”
Her first training began in 2015 with life coaching – it was an easy transition as she was already coaching colleagues in corporate settings – and she became a certified Dharma Coach, striving to connect people with their life purpose and put them on the path to happiness.
“I have a very specific approach to coaching,” she says. “Yes, we can talk about goals, but I want to hear about what your overall life goals are, what motivates you, what excites you.”
So much of our lives can be defined by learning, absorbing new things, and simply growing. At least, that’s always felt like a guiding principle at Cintron.
“I’m always thinking about how I can continue to honor, teach, educate and heal communities of color because they are the ones who need it. We are in desperate need of healing and this is all about healing.”
Reiki: An Energy Healing Technique
Reiki Master Teachers encourage anyone interested in Reiki to try it at least once in their life. Reiki is after all a gentle thing. Reiki comes from the Japanese word “reiki”. RayIt has several meanings, including “universal” and “spiritually guided.” treemeans “life force energy.” According to the White Lotus WebsiteReiki is a natural healing technique that uses gentle touch to bring universal life-force energy into the body. The same day that Cintron became a certified Reiki Master, she booked her first session with a client. She was ready to put her skills to the test.
“When I discovered Reiki, it all just happened so naturally. It was so natural for me and I felt so comfortable starting. Within a year I was teaching it, which is probably one of the things I do most here now. Reiki is the most common class and I get requests all the time,” Cintron says. “If it were up to the public, I’d probably be teaching Reiki every weekend. We’re already doing two classes a month.”
She says Reiki therapy has a variety of benefits, including deep relaxation, tension relief, detoxifying the body and reducing the side effects of traditional medicines like chemotherapy. The therapy does not directly cure illnesses, but is used as a way to treat symptoms and improve a patient’s mental health.
“That’s why Reiki is used all over hospitals in the United States,” Cintron says. “Cancer centers, including the one in Rhode Island, have Reiki practitioners because it works. It’s no longer a fantasy idea. It’s backed by science, and has been for several years.”
Here’s a little glimpse into a typical Reiki therapy session: You sit with Cintron on a pink couch surrounded by crystals and sage, upbeat music playing, and then you have a warm-up conversation in which the Reiki master teacher helps you understand why you’re drawn to Reiki, what’s going on in your life, and other topics. Soon after, you’ll lie down on a cushioned table as Cintron gently places her hands on different parts of your body.
“Reiki itself is based on the seven-chakra system in our body. It’s an energy healing technique that works with our energy field, or seven chakras, from the crown of the head to the base,” says Cintron.
“We start releasing energy, and by the time it’s finished, your chakras are all balanced,” she says. “Then we sit down. You, the client, have your own experience, which is a whole different thing. So we talk about your experience, and then I share with you what I’ve found. From there we give a little prescription, which might be five minutes of meditation a day, depending on what’s going on for that person.”
Cintron has seen a variety of results in her Reiki therapy sessions, but crying is one of the most common reactions. “It’s a release. We’re releasing energy. For example, if I’m over someone’s throat chakra and I’m just floating because I’m not actually making contact, some people feel like I’m grabbing them and choking them, or they feel like I’m releasing, depending on what’s going on energetically. It actually creates a physical sensation. That’s why I like skeptics, because I say, ‘It’s OK. It’s OK if you don’t believe anything. The work will happen whether you feel it or not. You’ll get what you need, whatever it is.'”
She encourages anyone considering trying Reiki to approach the treatment with an open mind, regardless of any questions they may have.
“I think the easiest way to make people feel comfortable doing something is to ask questions, clear up any doubts, and experience it in a very calm, non-threatening way,” Cintron says. “We try to provide that environment for people, but we get quite a few skeptics who are just curious, or who are skeptical and have heard from different people that they need to come for a session. We get a lot of people like that, but they always stay here. They always come back and become regulars. All it takes is one session.”
Other valuable services and events include Integrated Energy Therapy, Tarot Readings, Rootwork, Reiki and IET classes, all popular with clients. Cintron also offers dietary advice and herbal recommendations. Learn more about Cintron’s services online and book a session.
