The city of Round Rock is providing mental health resources to help individuals and families recover from the aftermath of Saturday night’s shooting at a Juneteenth event.
The City of Round Rock’s Crisis Response Unit (CRU) is a specialized team within the Round Rock Fire Department dedicated to providing fast, compassionate assistance to individuals experiencing a crisis. Established in 2022, the CRU is equipped to respond to a variety of situations, from mental health emergencies to traumatic incidents, ensuring those in distress receive the care and support they need.
“We encourage everyone affected by this tragedy to understand the importance of prioritizing their mental health and to take advantage of these resources,” said Annie Burwell, program manager for the Crisis Response Unit. “Together as a community, we can support each other and begin the healing process.”

The Round Rock Fire Department’s Crisis Response Unit can be contacted during special extended hours. 8:00am to 8:00pm from June 16th (Sun) to June 21st (Fri) Please call us at 512-218-5501 and a team member will answer the phone to provide guidance, explanations, and even schedule an in-person consultation if needed.
Outside of CRU’s extended hours, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Disaster Stress Helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for U.S. residents experiencing mental stress as a result of a natural or man-made disaster. Call or text 1-800-985-5990 to receive help in multiple languages, including an ASL option for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
