It’s not often that celebrities talk to their fans about their mental health issues, but in a new post about her newfound appreciation for the adventurous activity of log walking, model Chrissy Teigen opened up about how log walking helped her realize something different about herself.
Chrissy Teigen talks about her fear of falling
In a lengthy caption accompanying a post of herself at the scene, Teigen detailed what her first encounter with log walking was like, which she first did a few years ago during a time of emotional distress, presumably referring to her 2020 miscarriage.
“It was incredibly hard at the time. My legs felt like they were 1000 pounds each, my body was tense and after the fall I felt like I’d been in a car accident,” Teigen explained in the caption.
It took her 40 minutes to get over the obstacles, but it wasn’t because of her fear of heights: “I was battling pain in my arms, neck and legs more than anything,” she recalled.

So when she returned to the activity a few years later, she was confident that it would be different, perhaps easier, to pull off. But that wasn’t the case.
She acknowledged that the mental anguish had not completely disappeared, but that she understood the pain could be managed through relaxation techniques and “accepting and enjoying what I was doing.” But this never happened.
She said this experience was different, though just as difficult. “What I love most about this experience is how much it surprises me and how much I learn about myself,” she wrote in the caption.
How has Chrissy Teigen’s mindset changed?
For the model, who is married to singer John Legend, her fear of falling was a major obstacle – “the fear of falling again at a time in my life was an overwhelmingly debilitating mental and physical experience,” she admits, and says the fear never went away completely – but living a life free of fear meant retreating into her shell for long periods of time.
For her, trading parts of herself for a life that appears perfect to her fans isn’t a good deal. “I hope one day I can let go of the fear and accept that I’ll never be perfect for my fans, and that’s ok!” the singer concludes.
Legend supported his wife in the comments section. “I love you,” the singer wrote.
