Billionaire technology entrepreneur Brian Johnson has traveled to the remote island of Roatan off the coast of Honduras to undergo gene therapy that he believes could reverse his aging. In a YouTube video titled “I Edited My DNA on a Secret Island (To Live Forever),” the 46-year-old announced his trip to the remote island to undergo the extreme medical procedure, which he says could change the future of humanity.
The experimental treatment, worth $20,000 (roughly Rs 1.6 million), aims to significantly slow down the ageing process by editing DNA.
Earlier, the entrepreneur, who has spent millions trying to reverse his own aging, claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that he had achieved a major milestone in his anti-aging mission: Brian said he had reversed his biological age by five years.
“After 12 months, I’ve now aged just 7.6 months,” he said in a video sharing the post. Thanks to his rigorous training, he’s got the heart of a 37-year-old, the strength of an 18-year-old, and the skin of a 28-year-old.
The billionaire also revealed that he spends around $2 million each year maintaining a strict lifestyle to stay young and healthy.
MiniCircle, a biohacking company at the forefront of gene therapy, is based on the island of Roatan.
A wealthy tech entrepreneur known for his anti-aging quest has launched Project Blueprint to branch out into the field of longevity research. Follistatin gene therapy involves the subcutaneous injection of specially designed plasmids and DNA loops that can incorporate specific genes.
Though the treatment promises significant gains in muscle strength, slowed aging and other benefits, Johnson initially steered clear of gene therapy because of the risks, expanding, “If the treatment caused, say, cancer in my body, there would be nothing I could do to reverse the progression.”
However, MiniCircle’s gene therapy has a built-in safety mechanism called a “kill switch” that can inactivate the injected DNA if side effects occur.
