Bernadette Peters, who became obsessed with Breyers ice cream in a series of zany commercials, is back for the first time in 30 years, as the Broadway star reunites with the brand.
In the new campaign, Peters, 76, poses with a jar of “anti-aging cream,” which is actually Breyers Curb Smart Vanilla Frosted Dairy Dessert. The playful image, Feeling Staying young is more important than looking young, and ice cream can be part of longevity.
Peters told People magazine she was drawn to the “cute and tongue-in-cheek” message, adding that with 3 to 5 grams of carbs and 60 to 150 calories per serving, CurbSmart is “a really healthy choice.”

Peters reflected on how ice cream can impact longevity: “Ice cream is like all the things you add to your life, all the good things you do, all the self-care that helps you live a healthier life. You can have fun, make healthier choices, and eat it with friends and family. That’s the great thing about ice cream,” she said.
A survey conducted by Breyers as part of the campaign found that 89% of Americans over the age of 55 said that “enjoying life’s small pleasures that are good for the mind should be considered part of a comprehensive anti-aging routine.”

Peters says the secret to staying youthful is “thinking positively” and “being grateful every day for the good things in life, staying in touch with friends and caring about people.”
The actress rewatched the sexy Breyers commercials from the early ’90s on YouTube and said she enjoyed seeing herself “passing out in ice cream.”
“I just remember it being so much fun,” she says of her previous campaign. “It was so well written.”
Peters now looks forward to the annual Broadway Barks pet adoption event in August and credits her two dogs with bringing her happiness.
“I have animals that really brighten up my days,” she says. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a cat or a dog. When I see an animal, it makes me happy, so I can start my day on a good note.”
Her work also brings her joy: She was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Chita Rivera Awards.
