Mampong-Akuapem (E/R), May 19, GNA – Aponche Memorial Herbal Clinic has agreed to collaborate with Mampong Botanical Medicine Research Center to support the clinic’s transformation into a world-class herbal medicine center.
The clinic, which specializes in the use of herbs to treat fractures, dislocations and other bone-related problems, is based in Tema Community 5 and has branches in Pipe Ano Tanokrom and Swedol, Takoradi, and treats diseases such as malaria and jaundice. It is also famous for its treatment. , typhoid fever, body aches, rheumatic pains, sexual weakness, abdominal pain.
This was made clear during a preliminary meeting between the board and management of Aponche Clinic and the management of Center for Research in Plant Medicine (CRPM) Mampong Akuapem, which ultimately led to an agreement between the two institutions. It is hoped that this will lead to the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding.
Mr. Kwasi Afriyeh Badu, Chairman of the Aponche Clinic, called on the Plant Medicine Research Center to take the lead in launching a magazine focusing on the use of herbs in the country.
He said Aponche Clinic would like to become the center’s herbal medicine distributor and would also provide herbal medicine formulations for use in the center’s clinic’s outpatient department.
He said that once herbal medicines are developed and standards are set, more people will use herbal medicines in the country and attract people from abroad to seek herbal medicine treatment in Ghana.
Afriyeh Badu said the management of the Aponchiche clinic is negotiating with wholesalers to purchase herbal preparations from the clinic for sale in Togo and the Republic of Benin.
He invited the management of CRPM to visit Aponche Clinic, get acquainted with the facility’s facilities and collaborate on proposals to transform the clinic into a world-class center for herbal therapy.
CRPM Deputy Director Alfred Ampoma Appiah said Ghana has the potential to develop herbal medicines to earn foreign exchange, adding that a major challenge facing herbal medicine development in the country is that herbal medicine experts He added that it was a reluctance to disclose knowledge. He called for an extension of intellectual property law to cover herbs and include herbs.
