KINGFIELD – Alpine Design and The Melissa Aromatherapy are back and have moved to a new location at 241 Main St., in the storefront that formerly operated as Sweet Clover Bakery (and before that NGU Nutrition).
Patti Thomas is the owner of Alpine Design and Melissa Aromatherapy, which for more than four years had been located upstairs in the High Peaks Artisans Guild, where she also had her own gallery and art studio. When the pandemic hit, the space was too small for more than a few people to use as a studio, so in the fall, she and her husband, Greg, launched another Airbnb in the location, since the one they already had there was doing well.

When the opportunity arose, Patty jumped at the chance to have a storefront. Patty’s new space will be a gallery that will display and sell ski art, other paintings on canvas and barn boards, Greg’s paper collage art, abstract paintings, his famous black and white gondola photographs, and many other images. Patty and Greg’s daughter, Melisa Thomas, will also be selling digital image prints and helping out as needed.
Melissa Aromatherapy was named after Melissa about 12 years ago when she and Patty were making soap to help pay for dental care for their kitten, Mittens. Now they sell tick and bug sprays, lotion bars, essential oils, and herbal blends and tea leaves, which are a popular item. Why does “Melissa Aromatherapy” have two S’s and “Melissa” only has one? “Melissa” is a honeybee, and bees help provide aromatherapy.

Patti’s studio is located downstairs and is large enough to accommodate eight people for her popular Paint and Sip nights.
Framing can also be done on-site – Greg will cut the matting and assemble the frame.
Additionally, Patty also designs, decorates and stages other people’s homes and Airbnbs, and also provides photography for advertising etc. (She loves taking photos of landscapes, mushrooms, flowers and animals.)
Patty is looking for artisans to make soaps and other aromatherapy products, paintings, photography, woodwork items like charcuterie boards and coasters, wooden spoons, tea leaves, ceramics, etc. to sell in her new store. Contact her by email (alpinedesign8866@gmail.com), by phone (207) 491-2143, or through her Facebook page listed above.
Alpine Design and The Melissa Aromatherapy will have their grand reopening on Friday, June 28th, the evening of Kingfield Friday’s Artwalk and the day before The Kingfield POPS.
