Albuquerque Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine is a local clinic specializing in the treatment of complex chronic conditions such as neurological disorders and autoimmune diseases. The clinic is led by Dr. Andrea Brogdon, who specializes in combining Chinese and Western medicine techniques to help patients heal. Her goal, she says, is to bring hope to cases that seemed hopeless and help patients regain their lives.
New Mexico Living visited his clinic and spoke with Dr. Brogdon about how he addresses and treats patients with multiple, complex chronic problems.
“Let’s face it, life isn’t pretty, right? We often have a lot of things to worry about, not just ‘this is the one thing I have to worry about,'” says Dr. Brogdon. “So my patients may come to me with a primary concern, but once we talk and learn a little more about their medical history, their secondary concerns come to me as well. Masu.”
Dr. Brogdon’s approach to helping patients with multiple concerns is to take things one step at a time, addressing the most concerning issues first and then moving on to others.
“It’s like baking a cake. Now that we have the ingredients, there are several ingredients we can put together. So, for example, if someone comes in with neuropathy and restless leg syndrome, we can put them together. You can work on elements that can be solved. But if you come to me with something random, like IBS, it might not go in the cake. It’s like putting mustard in the cake. So what we often do is address their main concern. Once we get that under control, we can start moving on to the next concern,” says Dr. Brogdon. say.
One of Dr. Brogdon’s patients, Zella Bray, is proof of how the work being done at Albuquerque Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine is changing lives. She “went for a checkup and found out she had poor circulation,” says Zella Bray. “My feet were so sore and numb. It was cold and I also had foot problems from a condition called ‘charco’, where the bones in the feet become soft. So I have weird legs while doing that. ”
Zella said she visited other medical professionals and was told she had a neurological disorder and there was nothing that could be done. That was until she found Dr. Brogdon.
“I read the article and participated, and it was really great,” Zella says. “I read that article and thought, ‘God, there’s a caveat somewhere.’ So I’m going to give it a try. And I feel really good.”
Zella says walking through the doors of Dr. Brogdon’s office was one of the best decisions she’s made in a long time. Now she is encouraging others to make reservations.
“I would say, ‘Try harder,’ because it does work and it’s one of the only treatments available right now. And this doctor is a great doctor,” Zella says.
