EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — A new clinical hypnotherapy center opened in East Brunswick this week.
Imagination Institute of Hypnotherapy has opened a clinic in the Route 18 corridor in East Brunswick.
The clinic is run by founder Scott Blaise and business partner Annie D’Amato. The duo helps patients overcome anxiety, fear of flying, agoraphobia, trauma, and more through clinical hypnotherapy and watercolor therapy.
“Clinical hypnotherapy takes behaviors that are no longer working in a positive way and retrains new behaviors that create positive change,” Blaise said.
For D’Amato, this new venture is deeply personal. Her son suffered from an anxiety disorder until he tragically died in a car accident at the age of 23.
“Millennials have a lot of pressure to solve things. To achieve, to be on top. I really want to help people,” Demato said.
Imagination Institute of Hypnotherapy also provides training to paramedics, nutritionists, fitness coaches, chiropractors and other professionals who are passionate about mental health and holistic medicine.
“Hypnosis is safe, not mind control. I can’t tell you where to go. You have to define your goals. We can help you get there like a GPS. I’ll help you,” Blaise said.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, hypnotherapy is a type of mind-body medicine that puts patients into a state of deep relaxation and concentration.
According to the National Institutes of Health, there is growing evidence to suggest that hypnosis may help manage some painful conditions, such as anxiety related to medical or dental procedures. However, the overall evidence is not conclusive.
