Like any other geek, I love fancy headphones and gorgeous TVs, but what’s really got me hooked lately is European Spa Source’s Eucalyptus Shower Spa Mist.
No, seriously. It’s not new technology, but have you ever wondered why luxury hotel spas smell like God’s armpits, but your own bathroom smells like dirty towels? That’s what this product is for. Spray a few squirts of Spa Mist before you hop in the shower, and the steam will fill your surroundings, making you feel like your whole brain is getting a massage.
It’s amazing. Combined with a brand new dual shower head and some nice smelling soap, it will completely transform your bathing experience. If you value your shower time, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Into the Fog
Shower sprays are nothing new for aromatherapy enthusiasts, but they’re a revolution for me. The little bottles come in a variety of sizes and scents, and are made by a variety of brands. My family discovered them when my dad asked what the special scents were at a luxury spa in the southwest. When he gifted each family member with a bottle last Christmas, it was like Indiana Jones sharing relics he found in an ancient temple. I didn’t understand why he was so excited until I tried it.
This particular scent is one of the most joyful and uplifting I’ve ever smelled. When sprayed in a confined space like my tiny bathroom, the eucalyptus scent is bright and minty with hints of citrus and lemongrass. It’s the perfect scent to wake up your nostrils (and brighten your outlook) on a dark Portland, Oregon morning.
At this point, if I shower without it (on vacation or at the gym) it just makes my day feel awful, so I’ve started bringing it with me wherever I can’t get on a plane, like Beyonce with hot sauce.
Being a critic at heart, I have tried several shower scents recommended on Amazon. So far, European Spa Source is the only brand I can trust to deliver the full Armpit of God effect. Nothing compares to the brightness and amazing coolness that fills your nostrils after a few sprays of European Mist. However, I am interested in trying other scents from this brand. I am thinking of buying a lavender scented perfume when this bottle runs out.
This spray lasts a long time, though. $30 is a lot for a product that just smells nice, but I’ve gotten months out of one bottle, even spraying an extra one to make the house smell better when I’m not showering (maybe I have a problem with that). This product is also, oddly enough, great at eliminating bad odors; I can rely on it when my bathroom gets especially smelly or the whole house smells like two dogs have been snoring all day.
While it doesn’t come with any wires or allow you to play your favorite tunes, pair this spray with a shower speaker and Spotify and it’s easily on your gear list this year.
