I love scents. I truly enjoy the journey that a good smell can take you on, whether it’s a new perfume, essential oils, or scented candle. That’s why I’m one of those people who 100% believes in the efficacy of aromatherapy. At any given time, you’ll find candles and diffusers in my home, and eucalyptus and lavender hand lotion in my bag for moisturizing on the go. and Stress relief.
That being said, it’s no surprise that when Rare Beauty launched its Find Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen ($20), I was immediately intrigued. The brand describes the pen as a fast-absorbing gel with peppermint and lavender scents that will instantly relax and refresh your senses. As someone who’s always on the go, the convenience of an aromatherapy experience that I can throw in my bag when I’m on the go is very appealing. If I can take a mindful moment with a product that fits in the palm of my hand, I’m up for it. Read my full review ahead.

What I Like about the Rare Beauty Finds Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen
We’re already familiar with the aromatherapy benefits of lavender and peppermint. However, the addition of tonka bean to this scent profile was a pleasant surprise. On their own, the two aforementioned scents have a menthol-like scent that is refreshing and effective at clearing the head. The tonka bean scent adds a creaminess to the gel and enhances the scent. It’s not as overpowering as I expected, but it becomes more noticeable as it dries down. After a few minutes, the gel smells like freshly applied vanilla lotion on the skin.
How to use the Rare Beauty Find Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen
While the brand instructs users to apply the gel to their temples, the back of their neck, behind their ears, and on their wrists, I prefer a different method. Squeeze the gel into both hands, rub them together, and take a few deep breaths. If possible, do some square breathing as well, a technique in which you breathe in, hold it, and exhale while counting down from a predetermined number. Whatever your mental state, this exercise, coupled with the intoxicating scent of the aromatherapy pen, helps you drop your shoulders and calm those racing thoughts for just a moment. It’s an incredibly calming ritual.
What to Consider About the Rare Beauty Finds Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen
My only complaint about this pen is that the clicker at the bottom is a bit fiddly. The bottom of the pen has a pre-determined notch for you to press, but it means you have to hold the product in a certain way. On the one hand, it forces you to come back to the present and focus on the task you’re trying to accomplish, but on the other hand, it’s a bit annoying to have to constantly reposition the pen in your hand until it’s just right.
