Start
- Find a quiet place where you can sit up straight and comfortably, such as the edge of your bed, the floor, or a chair.
- Close your eyes and focus on your breathing or another focal point to be fully present.
- Relax your body by loosening your shoulders, loosening your jaw, and softening your eyebrows.
Mindful meditation to awaken your senses
How often do we start our day with a hot cup of tea or coffee? There’s a chance every day. It’s so integrated into our morning routine without even thinking about it that the process of preparing it is like muscle memory.
But what if we approached this ritual as if it were our first time? Because it is! We have never experienced *this* exact moment the way we are now, and we never will.
By becoming aware of all our senses, we can practice mindfulness meditation through things we are already accustomed to doing on a regular basis. Pour yourself a cup and begin this meditation. Please pick up the warmth of the mug. Immerse yourself in the scent of powder and tea leaves. Please accept everything.
