The rollout will cover major cities across the UK.
Exponential Fitness CEO Anthony Geisler said the company could open 800 more locations in the U.S. alone.
Club Pilates is Exponential’s most profitable brand
Xponential Fitness is bringing its Club Pilates brand to the UK, opening two locations in London.
The move reflects the growing popularity of Reformer Pilates.
In an exclusive interview in the latest issue Ho Chi Minh City Xponential magazine CEO Anthony Geisler said the Club Pilates brand isn’t showing any signs of peaking in terms of the number of stores it can support.
Ahead of the London opening, Geisler said an additional 800 Club Pilates studios could open in the U.S. alone.
“In 2019, the average Club Pilates revenue was $550,000 annually. Now it’s $900,000 and continues to grow,” he said. “In the third quarter of this year, the average revenue for studios that have been in business for more than three years increased 15% compared to the third quarter of 2022.”
“There may come a day when a 1,500-square-foot Club Pilates will be doing over $1 million in annual sales, which I don’t think anyone could have predicted in a post-COVID world.”
In 2019, Geisler estimated that there could be 900 to 1,000 Club Pilates locations, but as time went on, more locations became available: “As of 2023, we currently see approximately 1,700 Club Pilates studios available in the U.S., and demand remains strong among franchisees.”
The brand accounts for more than 900 of Xponential’s 3,000 studios and a third of the company’s revenue.
Two studios are opening in London this month, Bankside opening tomorrow (12th January) followed by the flagship studio in Fulham Broadway on 26th January. The long term aim is to open 50-75 UK Club Pilates studios over the next 3-5 years in major cities such as Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.
Richard Uku of Deblankson Fitness Group is the Master Franchise Holder for Club Pilates UK and has already helped open Club Pilates franchise locations in New York City and New Jersey.
Uku said: “At Club Pilates we are passionate about the wide range of health benefits that Pilates can provide and are thrilled to be able to introduce our accessible concept to a UK audience where interest in Pilates is growing rapidly. We truly believe we can revolutionise the Pilates scene in the UK.”
Club Pilates is the oldest brand in Xponential’s portfolio of 11 boutiques. Founded in 2007, it offers reformer-based workouts that combine cardio, strength and interval-style training. Franchises are available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Dominican Republic and Germany.
There are nine different formats and four levels to choose from, including Reformer Flow, Cardio Sculpt and CP Suspend, and the 50-minute class uses 11 different pieces of equipment, including the EXO chair, Bosu ball, Trigger Point, TRX and Barre.
Club Pilates says it is the first Pilates organization to introduce its own 500-hour teacher training program.
Xponential introduced its BFT franchise to the UK in 2022 and currently operates three clubs in Hackney and Battersea in London, and Leicester.
