Wondra Chiropractic and Acupuncture celebrated its 20th anniversary Thursday night at the Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event.
The clinic was filled with well-wishers enjoying snacks and conversation.
This business has always been located on Avenue G. It is currently located at 724 Ave. G, but originally the business started at 724 Ave. G in 2004.
Dr. Lori Wondra is from Fort Madison and her husband, Dr. Tim Wondra, is from Great Bend, Kansas.
The two met in college, married and settled in Fort Madison.
“We came here and started our family,” Lori said, “We graduated, waited two years, our daughter was born, and then we opened.”
The 20 years have flown by, the Wondras said, adding that they love the downtown area.
“When we first came to town we had nine chiropractors and now we’re down to four. We’ve had to do a bit of renovation recently and have gone through some changes,” Lori says, “So we’re continuing to change and just going with the flow. We’re not done yet.”
Lori said Wondra Chiropractic’s mission is to positively impact people’s lives.
“Our vision is to do that by providing exemplary health, support and hope,” she said. “And that’s what we strive to do when we’re here. And we believe in care for the whole person. We offer a variety of techniques and try to specialize it for each person.”
According to the Wondras’ website, Dr. Tim Wondra decided to pursue a career in chiropractic medicine by the time he graduated from high school. Tim and Lori began dating during their senior year at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City and married after Lori graduated. The couple have a daughter, Darin.
According to the Wondras’ website, Dr. Lori Wondra’s passion for chiropractic care blossomed while working with Dr. Richard Yenney on acupuncture seminars, when she became attracted to helping people not only relieve pain but also maintain overall health through chiropractic care and acupuncture.
Lori currently serves on the Iowa State Board of Chiropractic and has served in various roles for the Iowa Chiropractic Association at the local and state levels.
Both Dr. Wondra are active participants and supporters of the Fort Madison community.
