Yes, you heard me! During the countdown to eid Iftar has started and it’s getting extravagant. ramadan 2024 will end in just a few days. But something very interesting will happen in 2030. 2 ramadans! So, as predicted by astronomers, Muslims around the world will celebrate the holy month of Ramadan twice in just one year.
It is believed that the holy month occurs twice in a year, the last time this phenomenon occurred in 1997. Therefore, in 2030, Ramadan will occur first in January and then again in December.
But first, let’s understand that Ramadan is delayed by about 10-11 days every year based on the lunar calendar. This means that in the coming years Ramadan will move closer and closer to the beginning of the Gregorian calendar.
Hassan Ahmed Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, said in an interview with Gulf News: “The solar calendar and the lunar calendar operate separately from each other and are different. The solar calendar is fixed to the sun and , whereas the lunar calendar is always 11 days shorter. Therefore, having two Ramadans is a natural consequence of having two different calendars.” He added, “The calendar is a human invention; You can use it as a standard or count time. People should see two Ramadans as a natural thing,” he added.
The Saudi calendar for 2030, published on the website timeanddate.com, explains that Ramadan is likely to be celebrated on January 6th, followed by Eid al-Fitr on February 5th. . Ramadan is expected to end again on December 26th by the end of the year.
According to Arab News, “A year in the Hijri calendar has 354 days, not 365 days in the Gregorian calendar.”
