WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A new onsite health and fitness center recently opened on the campus of Williamsport Home (TWH).
Williamsport Wellness is open only to residents of the Loyalsock Township Continuing Care Retirement Community Campus, according to a news release.
TWH staff hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility, giving residents, staff and the community an opportunity to tour the center and explore its amenities. Coordinator Caleb Roudabush cut the ribbon alongside TWH Executive Director Jen Cisneros and TWH residents, according to the release.
“Williamsport Wellness is a fantastic addition to our campus, and our goal is to get the most out of the center so our residents can live longer, healthier, happier lives,” said Ruderbush. “Residents are excited, and many have already incorporated visits to the wellness center into their daily routines.”
Physical activity is important for most people, but it has great benefits for older adults. Older adults who exercise have stronger muscles, greater flexibility, and improved balance. Research shows that older adults who exercise have better mental health and cognitive function, and a reduced risk of developing chronic diseases.
The TWH center will feature weight training and exercise machines selected for effectiveness, low risk of injury and ease of use for seniors. Residents of the TWH campus will have convenient access to Williamsport Wellness and can participate in regularly scheduled health and fitness classes and workshops hosted by Rudabush, according to the release.
“Williamsport Wellness is focused on providing the highest level of care, understanding our residents’ needs and creating personalized journeys that help residents live healthier lives and embrace new concepts and experiences at all ages,” added Ruderbusch.
Located at 1900 Ravine Road in Williamsport, TWH was founded in 1872 and offers multiple levels of care, from independent living to skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, memory care and end-of-life care.
