“Why Ragdale Hall Spa is the ultimate wellness destination in the UK for me”

The worst part about a trip to Ragdale Hall Spa is that as soon as you’ve checked out, you’re already planning how you’re going to get back.

Please take it from me. Since my first visit in 2018, not a week has gone by that I haven’t thought about this vast mansion that has become my getaway. Its history partly dates back to the 18th century, and you may have never thought about how it overlooks the rolling Leicestershire countryside. Tip: The best views of the fields and forests are from the spa complex’s rooftop infinity pool.

Why do I love Ragdale so much? Well, there are amazing spa trips (my favorite), huge pools, fitness studios, classes, gyms, walking routes, and a huge variety of treatments on offer. It would take at least two weeks just to taste half of it. Thankfully, for someone who works full time and doesn’t have the budget to win the lottery, he can find plenty of joy and relaxation in just two days.

Want to experience Ragdale Hall Spa for yourself? Book now

On a recent trip, I brought my best friend – I love her so much why don’t I want her to catch Ragdale Hall fever too?Seeing her wide-eyed look as she explored the resort for the first time reminded me of my first visit to the resort.? Quite unlike any other spa in the UK (that I know of). I would even go so far as to say that she is one of the best places to go to hot springs in this country.

We look forward to serving you at Ragdale Hall Spa.

The excitement of a trip to Ragdale begins days before you arrive at the property’s winding driveway. Guests will receive a welcome pack mailed to their home address with everything they need to know before their stay, class timetables for the week, special offers and add-ons.

When you arrive, you will be greeted by a friendly and warm team of staff. Your luggage will be carried to your room (we recommend packing your swim/gym set in your handbag in case your luggage arrives late or during peak crowd times) and your car will be parked for you. Do you drive an EV? They charge it.

With no responsibilities until you check out, your respite from reality begins by sitting in the garden room and enjoying a glass of Prosecco. Then, after a quick tour of the facility, you’re free to enjoy fitness classes, hot and cold spa experiences, and treatments until dinner.

Ragdale Spa does not allow local residents to use the facilities or book treatments. That means from the moment you cross the threshold until you get home, every other member of the dressing gown gang is 100% committed and focused on their health, just like you. It’s the kind of cult you don’t need to be brainwashed to want to join.

The hot spring trip is incredible

There are 12 separate heat and water experiences as part of the hot springs trip. Set in a huge glass atrium with towering tropical plants and a river flowing through the rocky shores, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into paradise.

All elements are very different. At Candle Pool, you find yourself in a secret cave filled with warm water under flickering lights. Outdoors, accessed from the lagoon, there is a waterfall pool with hidden alcoves where you can sit and chat, or close your eyes and just float by as the rushing water washes over you.

The thermal complex at Ragdale Hall is huge

The thermal experience soothes and revitalizes all the senses. Thought Zone features calming visuals and sounds. The Scent Room uses fresh scents and images of nature to transport your mind to a zen place. The volcanic salt bath is made with natural basalt and slate, and has a generous scent of eucalyptus to help “stretch and invigorate your lungs.” The focal point of the Colourflow Cave steam room is a pile of crystals. The Rose Sauna is a Scandinavian style sauna that relieves muscle tension and calms the mind.

Thought Zone promotes deep relaxation

That’s not all. There are ‘starry’ cave showers and experience showers, where you can choose between a warm tropical shower (lovely) or a cool mist (perfect to refresh your senses in between hot experiences!).

Unlike some spas and spa hotels, there are no time limits or fixed time slots for access to the heated facilities or pools, including the rooftop infinity pool. All close at 10pm, except for the outdoor pool, which closes at sunset during the summer.

There are many opportunities to exercise

Isn’t it fun to lie down? Ragdale Hall Spa’s fitness program will keep you busy. We have two studios, Heart and Soul, each offering a packed schedule of classes covering four main activity pillars: Mindful, Cardio, Strength, and Dance from 7:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Masu.

They announce their timetable a week in advance (a copy is included in your welcome pack) and offer everything from HIIT to yoga, Pilates to spin, and their own classes, ‘Ballet Fit’ and ‘Drums.’ You can find a little bit of everything. alive’.

The view from the infinity pool is amazing

Ragdale is quite spacious, with a 25 x 12m pool lined with loungers perfect for long swims, as well as a small exercise pool. Here, you can join group classes in HIIT, Aqua Circuit, Pilates, and Yoga H20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Your weekly schedule may include exercising outdoors with a wellness walk or bootcamp, renting a mountain bike and exploring the grounds, or staying inside and hitting the gym. Cardio machines, free weights, and Pilates reformers are plentiful.

All of the above-mentioned items are included in your room rate, but some of the “holistic activities” where you can try out trendy training are available for a fee. During our stay we had a sound bath (£12 for 45 minutes), foam rolling (£10 for 45 minutes), tai chi (£10 for 45 minutes) and yoga for sleep (£5 for 30 minutes). was.

they are in harmony with the seasons

The team at Ragdale Hall Spa consider wellness to be a holistic experience and as part of this we run special offers and one-off events tied to seasonal themes. Ragdale Through the Seasons. WWhen we stayed in March, the theme was “Sleep” in line with National Sleep Day.

Sleep is second only to relaxation in my hobbies, so I jumped at the chance to take a class at Yoga for Sleep, having never tried Yoga Nidra before. Referred to in some circles as “yogic sleep,” it involves guided meditation and breathing exercises while lying down. savasana (corpse pose), but despite the comfortable position, controlling my thoughts was more difficult than I expected. That night we were asleep by 9pm. We are both now converts to Yoga Nidra.

Future Ragdale Through The Seasons Theme:

  • April to June – Balance
  • July to September – Reconnect with nature
  • October to December – Wellness Within

What is the spa like?

Almost all spa holidays and spa days at Ragdale Hall include at least one treatment and we recommend pre-booking if you wish to have additional treatments during your stay. Same-day reservations are available, and there is a blackboard in the spa’s reception area with available treatments, but not everything can be booked at the last minute or on a whim.

More than 130 beauty professionals work at Ragdale, offering everything from express facials and mani-pedis to acupuncture, reflexology and Reiki.

During my stay I had the Clarins Express Facial (perfect for a post-winter pick-me-up) and the Elemis Deep Tissue Back Massage (60 minutes £98) which were included as part of the package.

We also offer “Ragdale-only” treatments that you cannot receive anywhere else. Next time I’d love to indulge in the Medik8 Platinum Face & Body Rejuvenuating Ritual (105 minutes £169) or the Sea Magik Pro Tropical Coconut Floatation (50 minutes £78).

The food is nutritious, healthy and delicious

ask my someone W.H. Colleagues will tell you I’m not a breakfast eater, but if I lived in Ragdale (in my dreams!) I might be. Choose what you want to eat and drink the night before, drop your menu in a box at the front desk, and it will be brought to you the next morning to enjoy in bed. I enjoyed making tofu and bean hotpot with the concept of combining many small items. cranachan (a traditional Scottish dessert made with oats, honey, yogurt and raspberries) and a green smoothie.

There’s also a nice cafe if you want to enjoy some cake in the afternoon

At the main restaurant, lunch is a buffet with a wide variety of salads and cold meats, and dinner is à la carte. Although the quantity may seem small, it is made from the finest materials and will give you complete satisfaction.

Most people don their dressing gowns until they get home, but for those looking to get glammed up, the ultra-chic Twilight Bar is open until late and serves up fancy cocktails. Want to enjoy a cocktail in your dressing gown? That’s fine too!

final thoughts

I’ve been very lucky to visit some amazing spas across the UK. Although there are some pretty luxurious spas in Glasgow and Harrogate, a trip to Ragdale Hall confirmed that it still reigns supreme as my favorite wellness destination.

Let’s go there!

Classic rooms start from £407 per night including meals. Check our website for the latest sales and offers.Book now
