It can be really frustrating for parents to be criticized about the foods they feed their children. Every kid is different, some have food restrictions, and at the end of the day, getting your child to eat is a win.
A woman was recently furious with her mother-in-law after she complained to her for giving her son a meatless meal for dinner one night.
She and her husband have an 18-month-old son, she is pregnant with their second child, they live in a big city, and her husband’s mother lives about 45 minutes away.
Her mother-in-law has a doctor close to home, so she likes to spend the evening with them after each appointment so she doesn’t have to drive home in rush-hour traffic. It’s also nice to see her grandchildren.
However, her mother-in-law recently visited and she doesn’t want to invite her back.
Her mother-in-law was at her house just before dinner because she had a doctor’s appointment earlier in the day.
“I had just finished preparing dinner. [and] “My husband was at the gym,” she recalled.
“Being pregnant and chasing a toddler around all day really left me exhausted. I was running low on groceries so I planned to make a quick dinner – spaghetti with frozen meatballs. But when I started to cook, I realized I didn’t have any meatballs. It was too late to go to the store and buy something else. My kid was already hungry and I was hungry and tired. So, [didn’t] I need to have protein at every meal, so I made pasta without meatballs.”
When she gave her son a plate of pasta, her mother-in-law started acting in a way that suggested that a plate of pasta was not enough to satisfy her son. She explained the grocery situation to her mother-in-law, hoping that she would understand and leave her alone, but unfortunately, she continued to complain.
