WELDON – The Counseling and Career Center at Halifax Community College recently announced the launch of its first Wellness Resource Fair. The free event will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Building 400, Room 401 A and B on the university’s campus.
According to a press release from HCC Vanessa A. Council Director of Communications and Design, the primary purpose of the Standing On Wellness Resource Fair is to help individuals embrace a healthier lifestyle, foster a culture of well-being, and promote behavior change. By bringing together diverse community agencies, the trade show aims to reduce health risk factors, increase access to preventive care services, and improve overall health and productivity.
The title, “Standing On Wellness,” is inspired by the widely recognized phrase “Standing On Business,” which symbolizes resilience, steadfastness, and dedication to work. Through this fair, HCC encourages participants to prioritize their health and well-being with the same determination. Open to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members, the fair promises a variety of engaging demonstrations and interactive activities. Participants are looking forward to:

• Self-care facials by HCC cosmetology students
• DIY breast exam tutorial conducted by HCC nursing students
• Demonstration of CPR
• Healthy cooking demonstration
• Blood pressure screening performed by HCC nursing students
• Stress management workshop

• Quiet room for relaxation
