Speaking at the official launch by Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew, she highlighted the region’s commitment to promoting wellness tourism.
“Sabah’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and wellness traditions make it an ideal destination for those seeking rejuvenation and balance.”
Sabah captivates visitors with its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking scenery. Its relaxing and enchanting environment makes it an ideal health tourism hub with numerous wellness facilities offering a range of traditional spa treatments and therapies, as well as attentive consultations from trained medical professionals.
Sabah’s pristine environments – mountains, beaches and waterfalls – naturally produce an abundance of negative ions. These odorless, tasteless molecules have numerous health benefits. Negative ions attach to airborne pathogens (such as bacteria and allergens), inactivating them and rendering them harmless. They are thought to relieve tension and stress, promoting overall wellbeing.
European Wellness, an internationally acclaimed group known for its cutting-edge research in stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine, has recognised Sabah’s potential and is collaborating with the state to develop holistic wellness. Together, the two companies aim to position Sabah as a global leader in medical tourism. The partnership will see the investment of $80 million in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing research facility in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, led by renowned scientist Professor Mike Chan. The collaboration aims to combine Sabah’s natural attractions with the expertise of European Wellness to create holistic wellness experiences.
As the International Holistic Wellness Conference and Exhibition comes to Kota Kinabalu, delegates can enjoy Sabah’s natural beauty and be exposed to ancient traditions and modern wellness practices.
