Corryne P. writes: “I’ve been asking about fat-burning products like Keto Gummies, GOLO Release, and Nutrisystem Shakes. Do they really work? I know people who have tried them and when they stop, they gain the weight back. How does it affect the body?”
Another reader asks: “Can you explain the apple cider vinegar gummy craze?” Celebrities show off significant weight loss. My friend ordered these expensive supplements and didn’t lose an ounce. There’s so much information on the internet that it’s hard to know what to believe. ”
You are not alone. We all want to find a way to lose weight effortlessly. It reminds me of an ad I saw years ago that made fun of the weight loss industry. “I lost $200 in one month!” Hear how! ”
Most of these products work because they come with a low calorie plan. And they encourage physical exercise. For example, Nutrisystem recommends drinking one shake (150 calories, 13 grams of protein) in place of one meal a day. So, if you drink it instead of your usual high-calorie meals, you should lose weight…or not, depending on what you eat for the rest of the day.
The GOLO Release supplement contains about the same amount of magnesium, zinc, and chromium as the multivitamin I take daily. It also contains herbal extracts such as Rhodiola. The U.S. Office of Dietary Supplements says, “There is not enough evidence from human studies to conclude whether Rhodiola has health-related uses.”
This supplement also contains inositol. There is some evidence that inositol may help reduce insulin resistance, which makes weight loss more difficult. However, a 2022 review of 35 studies in women with insulin resistance in gynecological endocrinology found that “Is the use of inositol appropriate compared to the use of prescription drugs for this condition? It turned out that it was not clear.
Another ingredient is berberine, which ODS says may have effects on blood pressure and cholesterol. However, this supplement comes with some serious warnings related to serious side effects when taken with certain prescription medications.
For apple cider vinegar (liquid), a review of human and animal studies on its effects on body weight was reported in the 2020 issue of the European Journal of Nutrition. These researchers concluded that there was not enough reliable evidence to claim its effectiveness. However, there is some evidence that apple cider vinegar is probably more effective than gummy supplements.
And which celebrities have lost significant weight? I’m sure you’re talking about a skinny Kelly Clarkson. We also spotted a “news” report showing her showing off her new look while holding a bottle of apple cider vinegar gummies.
Fact-checkers from several news outlets subsequently reported that this endorsement was not real, but a modification of a video Clarkson had made to promote a music album. And her publicist informed the media that her client “has no relationship as a spokesperson” for any “weight loss products/programs.”
So how did she lose weight? In a January 2024 article in People magazine, Clarkson said, “She lost weight because she listened to her doctors. She didn’t listen to her doctors for several years.” Briefly stated. It must have worked.
