The Wayne County 4-H Advisory Committee is working on creating a unique cookbook. The goal of the cookbook will be a collection of cherished home-cooked meals that have been passed down through generations of 4-H members.
The committee believes this will be a keepsake that will be treasured for years to come. But they need help. They are putting this together to support Wayne County 4-H programs. Order yours today for $30. Payment upon pickup.
They’re looking for your go-to recipe. Maybe it was a quick dinner you whipped up to keep your family from starving. Maybe it was your favorite cookies your grandma always made. Maybe it was a “must-have” dessert or pie for Thanksgiving. Maybe it was that veggie pizza recipe your great-aunt passed down to you that’s now your go-to for backyard dinners.
Even better, maybe it’s a recipe that won a ribbon during project judging or qualified for the Ohio State Fair. When sharing your favorite recipes, be sure to include any “tips” or exact container sizes (16 ounces or 24 ounces?).
Be specific about which ingredients you mix first. Saying something like “mix the flour and sugar” works better than “mix the first two ingredients.” Recipes are unique to each household, and those “special” ingredients and how they are combined can make a big difference in making sure the recipe is the same for everyone.

4-H Members’ Memorable Recipes
They not only envision this cookbook filled with delicious recipes, but they also want to add memories. Your memories. From current youth members who are currently working hard on the project to those who have grown out of the fair days. They are looking for Wayne County 4-H members, past and present. Adding these memories to the cookbook will help it come alive. Collecting these memories will tell the story of why 4-H is so important.
Memories from the fair, meeting loved ones, big life lessons. Maybe it’s about your 4-H club and the friends you made there. Memories from the Junior Fair Board, being crowned King or Queen, winning a blue ribbon, learning what it means to walk out of the arena with nothing in hand and a smile on your face.
