But our love for ice cream has also led to some pretty unusual creations. From ketchup to butter chicken ice cream, there’s no limit to the unusual flavors people come up with. The latest addition to this list? Onion ice cream, and the internet is definitely not impressed.

This onion ice cream recipe video was shared on Instagram by digital creator @FoodBeast. The video starts with the creator finely chopping a large onion. Then, he transfers the diced onion to a frying pan and caramelizes it on low heat. In a blender, he adds the heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk and blends until thick and creamy. This is the base of the ice cream, which he puts in a stand mixer and blends on low speed. The next step is to crush the dry ice into a fine powder and slowly add it to the stand mixer. In the description, the digital creator writes, “Once all the dry ice has sublimated, you can add the next spoonful. Be careful not to leave any lumps behind, as the ice cream is inedible until all the dry ice has disappeared.”
As the ice cream begins to freeze, the digital creator adds the onions and increases the speed of the mixer. Once it’s the desired consistency and consistency, he pipes the ice cream into the hollowed-out onions and places them on a tray filled with dry ice. In the video, the content creator’s friend can be heard saying, “Oh, that’s the softest serve ever. It’s amazing!”

One user expressed extreme dislike for the ice cream flavour, calling it “prison”.
